get the junk out of the house!  Out of sight out of mind.  But I do understand it does not necessaily work that way.  But you do need to go back to basics.  Protein first, then if you have room go for complex carbs.  I would stay away from the breads, crackers, sweets, and other junk.  If you have to have it then limit it to once a week.  but if you cant do that, then avoiding it might be the simplest thing to do.

I am stil new RNYer, but I have dieted for most of my life. the only time I really lost a good amount of weight was when I did the above.

I went through a similar phase last summer. The girls in this group suggested I do the 5-day-pouch test and I did. It worked too. It's 5 days of going back to basics 1st-2nd day liquids, 3rd day mushies, 4th-5th day normal food. Google it, it works wonders. Most important, get your priorities straight. It's easy to let our guard down after a full year of dieting. Perhaps you feel deprived. Emotional eating takes over. Maybe it's the taste you are craving.
Whatever it is, remember that we are food addicts. Fatty, sugary foods is our drug of choice. Never let your guard down, not now, not in 10 years or you will see the weight pile back on.
Good luck in your effort.

i pack my lunch and normally dont take $$$ in.  that way if a craving hits, i dont have the $$$ to give in... Take veggies and cheese for a snack..  it may help..  I was doing all this for awhile prior to surgery.  It helped alot.

Hope you had a great Monday.  May you be blessed the rest of the week and them cravings kept abay.

If you gain 3 lbs at your weight, you will feel it....the smaller you get the quicker you feel a few extra lbs.

Every time you take the time to get money out of your purse and then take the "walk of shame" to the machine, you KNOW you are not doing the right thing.  You need to ask yourself why you are sabotaging your success?

You will have times in life when you will eat a cracker, a cookie, a brownie, etc...sometimes all of the above on the same day!  That is life--food is all around us, it is legal and yes, we sometimes just want it.

I recommend you let go of the "diet" mentality.  You are NOT on a diet--you are changing your lifestyle.  Guess what?  Thin, healthy people eat things that aren't 100% good for them....OCCASIONALLY.  They also cut back on extras when they "feel" the extra lbs and they work out more.  Think of yourself as one of these people.  Listen to the queues your body is sending and adjust accordingly.

Only you can be responsible for your own actions.  Next time you reach for money to go to the machine ask yourself--"Am I really hungry?"  If you are really hungry, then eat something--like protein (cheese, an egg, slim jim--have these things available).  If you are not really hungry, then think about what you are feeling that is making you want to suppress it with food....and just let yourself feel whatever it is.  Then drink some hot tea....it works wonders for the hungries.

Overall, make sure you are really eating enough each day--and  the right things.  At 1 year out you should be eating much more than you did at 3 months out--so many people try to live off the amounts we had right after surgery for a long time...that just isn't realistic......and maybe try 6 meals a day...that really helped me.

You did the right thing-you realized you had an issue and you reached out for help.  I wish you the best.

That's funny you should bring this up.
I have recently been tempted with all the Valentine's Day sweets, not to mention the girl scout cookies that are floating around.... now with St. PAtricks' Day and Easter coming up I amscared.

I am not even at my goal weigh yet, plus I have hit a plateau.
I am going back to my pre-op diet for a week to try and get over this plateau.

I know how hard it is to not let ourselves go back to the old way of eating.

We have to remember that it is the old way of eating that got us obese in the first place.

Keep up the good work!
Just remember how far you have come.

Congrats on your anniversary Chris.  The others posted wonderful ideas and thoughts.  I don't have anything new to add.  Want you to know that we are rooting for your success.  Put the change you are spending at the machine into a collection for some pampering.  Keep a source of protein in your purse for those moments when a snack attack happens, portion control too.

You are feeding some feeling, get a handle on what you are feeling and find an alternative way to deal with the issue.  Hugs
