I'm pre-op and I'm trying to start changing my habits/lifestyle now so surgery wont be such a shock to me mentally, emotionally, as well as physically.

I'm excited and can't wait to start.  I have to wait until March 1st when I get my taxes to pay for the membership.  :(  but it will be all paid for for the next year!  This is something I really want and I'm soooo happy I'm doing this.

~yay!!~ I so want to start going to a gym but can't afford to right now so I have been doing exercises around my house - I live on the lake so we have a huge hill in front and then a very long driveway so I have been walking up and down both hills. One day I will be able to go to the gym :)

I too have started changing habits and lifestyle - changing the way I eat - how much I eat -etc... my son has also said he was starting to eat healthier too ** and there isn't an ounce of fat on him ** but it sure made me smile :)

I really can't afford it either.  My awesome sweetheart knew I really wanted to join so he suggested I use ALL of our tax return to pay for a years membership. :0)  He's so sweet!

Good for you... walking your hill is exersise!!  And maybe you can swim in the lake when summer finally arrives.

I'm not good with change when it comes to food. I needed time to "practice" and deal with the strong emotions I have about food and eating.  I'm trying to make surgery as stress free as I can.
Good for your son!  I wish my kids would jump on that waggon.  They are not happy about not having junk food and sweets in the house.  However, all of my kids are skinny and very active... I hope that never changes for them!

Teresa, using the natural hills is great exercise.  You will do great.  Love that your sone is on board with the changes in eating habits.  Always best when the lifestyle is family wide, less temptations that way.

I can't wait for the snow to melt and for long walks outdoors.  Finally temps getting to above freezing, spring will be along one of these weeks.  I live in northern MN, about 100 miles from the Canadian border.  Come on spring, ready for the change in seasons.

Hi Jen,  I'm excited for you too. I'm going to the gym as soon as I get some other things taken care of. It's only a few miles away from my home. I hope to be aable to walk it someday. Mag

What a great idea walking to the gym!  My gym is 4 miles away but it a very narrow country road with no safe place to walk. :( But LOVE the idea.

Well, we can be online work-out/support buddies! :0)

Two years ago, I got a membership for both of us at the local gym for us for our anniversary.  Told my hubby that I want both of us to be around for a long time.  I know that tomorrow is Valentines Day, and our anniversary is the end of the month.  Kind of nice to have 2 special days in the shortest month of the year.  Next year, we will get to celebrate our anniversary on the actual date.  We got married on Feb. 29th.  Yes, leaped into the marriage thing, lol.

Jen, do what you can at home until your membership.  Walking up and down the staircase, around and around the block, anything helps.  I had a hard time initially separating food and fluids, much easier at this stage of the game, so to speak.  Take the changes one at a time, you will make it through this.

Hi Jen;

While joining the gym is an awesome thing - if cost is a factor consider doing the www.c25k.com program.  If's helpful and you can download free podcasts to help you with the program.  It's helped me and tomorrow I start week #7 :)  Hope that helps.

Take care,
Michelle

Jennifer,
I am excited for you too! Try really hard not to allow life to take away your enthusiasm. Life happens no matter what, and we have to see to this journey we are on no matter what, or it will all be for naught later, and none of us want that.

Good for you in taking positive steps now to help ensure your success later! You go girl!
