OT: I'm impressed
Had a complimentary 30min session with a personal trainer (the head trainer). OMG I fell in love. He listened to every word I said and answered all of my questions. He listened to all my worries and possible limitations. I voiced my concerns about having limited caloric intake and working out. He said thats why we are starting real slow and for me to let the trainers know if I feel tired, fatigued, light headed, or nauseated. We worked on some chest exercises, says hes gonna concentrate on my hamstrings and buttocks ( so i wont have so much knee pain, which is caused because of my weight being pulled forward), back and core. For core he didnt want me to do crunches so he had me standing at the balance bar standing on one foot. Didnt feel like I was really working any muscles at the time, but after-wards my abdomen muscles were saying "HELLO".
Whats got me impressed is that hes willing to work around my limitations and my surgery to get me the best results. Hes listening to me instead of just saying "we're gonna do this and that".
He wants me to do 3 times a week. Not sure if I can swing that, but will try to do it this for my 12 sessions that I have. Then I will decide how many I can afford after that. If I get my tax refund back I may be able to afford x2 a week for a year. I do need the push. What I am saving on junk food and sodas is going towards my personal trainer sessions and my gym membership.

That is soo Awesome! It's very important to be honest with the trainer about how our caloric intake is different and how we eat so they realize how "special" we are. I have to say working with a trainer is so helpful when starting out because you learn early how to exercise correctly and prevent injuries. Woohoo for you! I had a training session once a week and I found it gave me the confidence to work out by myself the other days in the gym and not be intimidated. Good luck with everything! and my word of advice, is just listen to your body if something doesn't feel right then don't do it, not worth injuring yourself.
I have been putting off asking for a training session. You give me more incentive to actually make the call. Let's see what the next week brings. So far, so good on gettimg to the Y.

WOOO HOOOO you go girl. How kewl. I thought of going to a personal trainer, but to be honest, between my husband, kids, and everything else, I doubt I'd stick with it regularly. I am always expected to drop everything for everyone.. I swear!
So.. maybe you can share ideas, workouts, suggestions with me and those like me who have our EXCUSES for not doing this..lol. Best of luck to you lady! keep us posted on how it all goes for ya!

Lessoned #1: sketchers are not the best shoes to be working out in. Walking yes, but not with the personal trainer.
Lesson #2: CORE. Trainer didnt want me to do crunches this soon out from surgery. So he had me stand at a balance bar side ways. Grabbed the bar with my right hand while standing side ways. Then I had to balance on my left leg with my right leg bent. While doing this I reached my arm over my head. Had to hold this pose for 30sec to a minute. Then I would balance on my right leg with left leg bent and my left arm parallel to the floor. Hold for 30sec to a minute. Then I switched sides to where my left hand was grabbing the bar and i was turned sideways. To tell you the truth i didnt feel much pull or anything while doing it, but once I stopped I had an ache in my obliques and upper abs.
OH YEAH. You gotta make time for yourself. Have one day where you are #1.

I don't even own sketchers, but many people rave about them. One day I need to get myself some GOOD shoes. I always get the cheapies at walmart, then wonder why I didn't get decent ones. But seems I only think about getting some when I pass the shoe dept there.
Don't over do it gal! NO HERNIAS WANTED! keep us posted and KUDOS to you!
