Tailbone

Hey all.

This hasn't been a very good last couple of days here at home.  Hubby and I have been arguing although today is a lot better. We've been together going on to 5 years and rarely fight about anything so I'm not really sure what the problem is.

I am also having an issue with my tailbone. For about the last 3 or 4 months I have been some pain when sitting because for the first time in my life I can actually feel it.  But it is starting to get a rash and itches and is black and blue and my mom told me it looks like it has some sort of sore.  Does this sound familiar or normal to anybody?  I'm finally at just over a pound to my goal and now this comes up.  Right now I've been putting Neosporin oint with pain reliever on it; I don't want it to get infected.

Any thoughts on this are appreciated.

Thanks Kathy and just for future reference, you have my permission to "pun" away.  I thought of a few myself, LOL!

I had my mom check it out again for me today and she said it doesn't look any worse and I also noticed a lot of the itching has stopped so hopefully this particular demon is ready to hit the road.

As for my husband, I have failed to remember the amount of stress he is under right now with his mom.  She is currently in a very nice nursing home and doing PT.  As long as she can do the PT things will remain as is. When it gets to a point where she can't do it anymore they will move her to the hospice area of the facility.  We saw her on Sunday.  She looks pretty good for someone with stage4 cancer and they tell us that the therapy is going well.

Anyway, thanks to you once again for that wonderful shoulder of yours.

Sorry to hear of your mother in law.  Hope that she is comfortable in her last days.  That is an additional stress that you and your hubby did not need.

Glad to hear that the buns pun is better.  Gotta smile each and every day too.  Noted your new avatar pic, looking pretty good girl.  Take care and   group hugs.

Colleen,

Glad to hear things seem to be getting better with your tailbone.  For the last 4 or 5 months I've had pain sitting due to my tailbone also - no itching or bruising, though.  The doctor said it was because of the rapid weight loss and recommended doing core strengthening exercises, like Pilates.

Not all seats hurt, particularly if I could shift my weight off my tailbone.  But I couldn't do that safely while I was driving, so I purchased a ****yx cushion.  I use it in my van and on my sofa (the two worst seats for me) and it has helped tremendously.  One of the women in my WLS support group had this problem; for her it went away after several months.  I haven't experienced that yet, but am hopeful.

I'm sorry to hear about your mother in law.  I'll pray for her and you and your husband.

Its been too long since I have checked in.. but here I am.
Colleen, I am sure hubby is under a lot of additional stress with everything going on with his mother. And I know that for me personally, when I am feeling realy overwhelmed with concerns, stress, obligations, whatever, I am not always myself. Somewhere we have to have a release, and unfortunately it usually ends up being with those who are our "safe place" which would be spouses, etc. So try to remember, he just has to let some pressure off, and it is not personal most likely. It doesn't make it ok for you, but maybe it can help you understand it better and get through it a bit easier.

Sounds like pressure is getting the best of your bunns. Have you had a fall recently due to the dizziness? Try to stay off the area as much as you can to allow it time to heal. With the absence of the extra cushion, solid surfaces really take their toll on our poor behinds! Try to shift your weight when sitting and laying so presure is not directly on it.

Colleen, get your buns (and the rest of you too, lol) in to see your pcp.  Don't want to risk any issues down there.  I could go into many, many puns about this issue, but won't.  Off to the MD monday for you.  Hope that nothing is wrong.  Let us know what happens.

Get to the core of the issues you and hubby are not seeing eye to eye about.  Maybe even some marriage counselling if needed.  We are all getting stir crazy up north with all the snow and not as much outdoor activity.  Hurry up spring
