I just wanted to stop by and introduse myself. I am scheduled to have surgery on tuesday. Getting excited and nervous at the same time. I is hard doing the liquid proitien shakes for breakfast and lunch. I got on the scale today and have only lost 2 lb. So frustrating. I have been on the shakes for 2 weeks now!

Welcome to the group Charmaine.  Hang in there with the shakes.  Some lose more than others on the pre op diet.  You will be among us loser's before you know.  Anything we can do to help in the meantime.  Congrats on being down 2 pounds, any weight lost makes surgery easier on both you and the surgical team.  Just a few short days and the real losing begins.  Hugs

Hi there. Glad you have your surgery soon. As Kahty said, that;s when it gets interesting and fun. I'm 3.5 weeks out and I am already glad I did it.  I'm sure you will be too! Mag

Copngrats on your soon to be arrival to the losers bench. People who lose more on the liquid diet, typically have a lot more water weight to lose too. But remember your body could be in starvation mode too, and trying to "save itsself" Just keep doing what you are supposed to. All will be ok, and then the rapid loss begins.. WOOO HOOO! The liquid diet is more about shrinking your liver than weight loss, so know the liquid diet is doing its job even if you aren't seeing a lot of pounds dropping. Also, ONLY 2 lbs? Picture this. it takes 8 sticks of butter to equal 2 lbs. Thats not so shabby!
Keep us posted! Best of luck to you.

You mentioned you are doing the protein shakes, do you have to do this because your going into surgery or to lose weight. I heard that you need about 85 grams a day of protein after the surgery is this true?
