Hi - my name is Michelle.  I'm 33 and am in the process of getting a date/approval for sleeve WLS.  I am a new mom - my little girl is 9 months old.  Her birth gave me the resolve to finally to do something about my weight issues.

I don't like the feeling of my husband being able to play and crawl on the floor with her while I have to watch from a chair - because I can't get up from being on the floor.  I hate not being able to give her a bath because my knees will not support me beside the tub.  As I think to the future I see all the events in her life (riding bikes together, walks, hikes, playing in the back yard) that my weight will prevent me from sharing with her.

No more.  I want to take back charge of my life!  I want to be there for my husband as he retires, I want to help my little girl pick out a wedding dress, I even want to have another baby.

While waiting on approval, I am currently going to the gym 3 days a week.  I dug deep into my pockets and added a personal trainer to help motivate and to give me one more person to be accountable.  I am also seeing a therapist every two weeks to work on the "emotional/mental" side of my issues.

If I wouldn't have allowed my weight to get this out of control, then these steps wouldn't be needed.  But I am here now and this is the point I've decided enough is enough.  Time to set some goals, make some priorities and drop some weight!

Bless each and every one of you in your weight loss journey!

WELCOME to OH, TO bariatric buddy, and to the rest of your life!!!! Sounds like you have your head wrapped around this.  You have already made some awesome changes.  What motivation you have.

I had RNY on 01-03-11. Best decision that I could have made.  I too reached deep into my pockets to get those personal trainer sessions.  But have to wait until I am cleared by the surgeon tomorrow.  Then Next week I am the mercy of him/her.  I need the extra push to do just a little beyond my comfort zone.

hope to see you around lots.  I just love this group as well.  We have monthly support group every week in the chat on our home page.  You will be sent a reminder in your email here on OH to join.  Hope to see u there as well.

Welcome to the family Michelle.  You have much to be healthier for.  Keep going on the steps that you have taken.  You will enjoy your daughter as she grows and you transform into the person you will be.

Fran mentioned our weekly chat sessions.  Hope to be able to get to know you better, both here on the board through posts and with the chat sessions.  Ask loads of questions, get the info you need and come share with us.  Dedicate yourself to yourself, you are worth the effort.  Hugs

Hi Michelle! I sooooo HEAR YOU! I had my RNY about 2.5 years ago, and it is the BEST gift I could have ever given myself! I am a grandma, and I get on the floor and wrestle with those lil ones, run and chase and play with them, play for hours sometimes. It is an awesome feeling. I could have NEVER done these things "before".

I think we all tell ourselves "if I hadn't allowed myself to get here" or "If I hadn't abused my body" or something similar. Time to look forward and not beat yourself up anymore over the past. Life begins from today...forward. Just keep in mind always, that you will be responsible to care for yourself properly from here on out. You can do it!!!!

Wishing you all the best in this awesome lifechanging journey!
