I am starting to get nervous!
Now, that I actually have a date with the surgeon and close to having a surgery date, I am getting nervous! I haven't been nervous at all during this process. I have been so sure of my decision! I am now questioning if this is the right path for me (I know it is). I still have all the support from my family. But I haven't told my oldest sister yet because she has such a BIG MOUTH! I want t be able to tell people about my surgery when I feel like telling them. lol Also, What questions should I ask my surgeon? I have a few already but I feel like I am forgetting KEY questions. lol Thank you all for your support!!
That is a normal reaction. I felt that way too. Wait until you get your date you will get anxious, excited, scared I saw my surgeon and surgery was schedule for 3 weeks later. I have to tell you that time flew by. I would ask the surgeon his opinion on what surgery is the best for you.
You are going to do fine!!

Jeanine, you are having appropriate feelings. Jumble of nerves, excitement, anticipation, fear, and hundreds of other feelings is normal. I recall this mix of emotions from my own pre op peroid. You have done the work and homework. Enjoy the rest of the adventure. As far as asking questions, start a list of questions. Bring this list to your appointment. Do not feel ashamed about bringing a list. I brought mine.
Your surgical team should give you written information on the entire process, now, before surgery and for recovery and resuming eating. This came in handy many times when I wondered "did I hear this?" You can always come here to share, call the office to have your questions answered.
Jumpin for joy with you !!

Ahhh... the jitters. So normal for most all of us, except for the odd balls like myself. BUT I had a great surgeon who saved my husbands life just one year prior to doing my surgery, when no one thought my husband could be saved. So having faith in your surgeon is a BIGGIE! You don't have to go through what we did to have this faith. But I am sure it helped ease my mind. The very few times i did begin to wonder if I was doing the right thing, I reminded myself of what I had to look forward to if I did NOT do this. Not much! So maybe those 2 tricks can help sooth your frazzled nerves a bit.
It is hard to tell someone else what to ask their surgeon, as we all have different questions and our surgeons have different ideas on how things should be after surgery. My suggestion would be to try to pinpoint what your feelings of nervousness are stemming from exactly, and ask for information on those areas of fears / concerns. Do ask if you need to bring your own meds with you to the hospital for post-op use, or if he will prescribe all meds you are on that will need to be continued. (if you are on any).
You have the right to tell who you want, when you want to. So tell your oldest sister when you are good and ready. Or don't. Eventually she'll get curious and ask how you are losing so much weight. It is all up to you. Glad you have lots of support in this! You are gonna kick butt in this.
Calming hugs coming your way.
