Hi everyone. I'm in shock once again.(Not good) I went to the doctor today. After I week of clear liquids and 1 week of protein drinks and water only, I'm upset to report that I have only lost 9 pounds in 13 days. I did everything he told me to do. Darn. Mag

everyone loses at different rates depending on a number of factors.  Those that are heavier and need to lose more tend to lose faster.  I only lost 12 pounds in 11 days.  Your body has been through alot.  It is gonna take some time for it to normalize again.

I understand how you feel!  I'm 3 weeks post-op, and it seems that I may have stopped losing (or rather, slowed down to a snail's pace: less than 1 lb in over a week)!  I don't even know how this is possible... I'm only eating 2-3 oz protein per meal with no other foods yet (per my doctor's instructions.... working up to 3 oz but I'm not consistently there yet).  I want my honeymoon period!'

9 lbs in 13 days isn't bad, though.  Think: when have we ever lost 20 lbs in a month before (and kept it off)?  At 20 lbs/mo, you'd lose 100 lbs in 5-6 months.  That's great!  That is actually the kind of results I was hoping for... looks like it's going to take me years though :-(

Mag,

9 lbs is great!! and I bet your clothes are not as tight cause you probably lost some inches with those 9 lbs. Think how long it would have taken you 6 months ago to lose those 9 lbs. Please do not be discouraged you are doing great!! As long as you keep doing everything you are suppose to it will turn out fine

I know how you feel but keep that chin up!!  Those first two weeks I crept along, and then by 5 weeks when I went back to work I was down almost 40 pounds.  It just started to fall.  I knew I was doing everything right, and I just trusted that it would happen and it did.  So keep up the good work, and remember like the last post, let the way your clothes fit talk to you as much as you let the scale talk to you!   9 pounds is almost a whole size too!!  Great Job!!

Mag, you are doing fantastic! Nine pounds gone is nine pounds gone, right?  You have to remember everyone loses at a different rate.  You can't measure yourself against others no matter how hard that is.  You said in an earlier post you felt like you were losing, keep that thought and remember that you just started this journey.  You are only one week out.  Just keep doing what your doctor tells you to do and the weight loss will follow.  Did you take pics of you before surgery?  I would suggest that you take pics at different stages of your weight loss and you will see the differences.  It's really helpful later when you don't feel like you're going anywhere so you can see where you started.  But for now, just keep remembering you are only a week out and keep following your doctor's instructions.

Wow Mag, 9# is wonderful.  I came home from the hospital 13# heavier than before surgery, it took the first couple of weeks to just let the fluid shifts happen.  Take this one day at a time.

You will lose in spurts and have stalls, many have the stall at 3 weeks out.  Keep thinking positive thoughts, follow your surgeon's advice and roll with the punches.  We each lose at different  speeds.  I see great things for your future.  Hugs

9 pounds is fine.  Your body is still healing from your operation.  And the weight will continue to come right off.  Great job!!
