Hey, I'm new to the group. Having trouble

Thank you so much for reaching out to me, Patrece.  My heart goes out to you and and your family in the trauma and grief you have been shouldering.   I'm so out-of-touch with myself, it's like I've forgotten the non-food related things that make me feel good.  I need to embrace them instead of reaching for the easy fix of a bag of chips or whatever the hell.  I'm going to try.

Be safe and well, B.B.

I know the feeling. It happens to all of us at times I think. It is time for you to rediscover Kami. Who she is, what makes her tick. Try to look forward a bit more, and slowly takes steps in that direction.

How about coffee with a friend? A really good book that takes you away from "real life". Ya know, one of those kind you never want to put down.
Start experimenting. You are worth it, you deserve it, and you NEED it. YOU CAN DO THIS!! You really can. One small step at a time in the right direction and soon you will be moving along at a good pace.

Thank you for your kind words and caring heart. See that lil lady in my avatar with me? She is my happy place! Her and my other 2 grandbabies.

Your words make so much sense, Patrece.  They really touch my heart.  Your little one is so precious.  Your family is so lucky to have you in their lives.  You have such a healing spirit.  I took your advice....I reached out and just talked to a friend I haven't seen for months and months with all of the troubles and grief.  I'm going over to her apt to watch a movie and have some tea this weekend -- it's giving us both a financial and a health break instead of going to the movies and being tempted by the gooey buckets of popcorn and super-sized sodas (and paying almost $12 for a ticket).  I gained back so much weight  that my knees hurt very badly when I walk (I have arthritis).  I had lost enough to a point where the pain was manageable, but now I'm back at square one.  Getting out of my apartment to go and see her will be so big for me.  I haven't been out much at all, except going out on Tuesdays to see my therapist.  I've marked it on the calendar above my computer monitor.  I'm going to see her this weekend.  I need it.

Be safe and well, B.B.

I am soooooooo glad to hear you are getting out and seeing a friend and doing something to enjoy yourself and get out of the house. We like to hide away when we hurt, but in the end, our hideout, which is usually our home, can become our self imposed prison.

A WONDERFUL step to be taking! PLEASE d yourself a favor and GO and do not cancel even if tempted. This is going to be so good for you! I look forward to hearing about your get together.
Thank you for the sweet compliments. I am the "nurturer type" guess that why I am a nurse. lol

Big hugs and lots of support coming your way. You'll get that weight back off, then when you can have surgery, it'll really come off. You can do this. We are here to cheer you on to success.

Thank you so much, Patrece.  I'm going to keep my eye on that circled date on my calendar every day and try to keep reminding myself of how much I need to go and connect and get out of my dark cave.  Thank you for the positive energy.  I can feel it.  Love you gals

Kami, I am so glad that you came back to OH, welcome to the family.  We are here for support for everyone.  I am thrilled that you are in counseling and getting your life back under control.  Everyone else has responded with great advice.  I have hears that writing alternatives to eating on small slips of paper and putting them in a container/fishbowl.  Draw out 1 or 3 slips and do one of the activities for at least 10 minutes.  Doing something else distracts.  Write, journal or blog thoughts and feelings, here on OH, on paper or any style that suits your life.  Get to the bottom of the behavior is essential for success.

Thanks for posting your thoughts, I look forward to getting better acquainted with more postings.  I had my RNY Sept 2009.  This is one of the best things that I have done for my health.  The surgery is not an immediate fix, but gives me a "tool" to manage my eating, especially controlling volume consumed.

Come join us on  monday evening chat sessions when you can.  Reminders are sent out each monday with the shortcut to the chat area.  The immediate responses, caring and sharing make all the difference in my life.  I look forward to the sessions.  Let's lose together.  Hugs

Thank you so much for the welcome and your supportive words.  I'll be looking forward to getting the reminders about the Monday chats.  What an awesome support system.  I'm so glad I came back to OH and found this group.  You all are shining some warm light into the cold, dark shadows I've been living in.  I can't thank you enough for reaching out to me.

Be safe and well, B.B.
