What to ask...
Hello everyone! I am new to OH and I am looking for some help! I go next week for my initial consultation and I am putting together a list of questions to ask the surgeon and his nurse manager. Any suggestions? I am a nurse I feel like I am leaning towards the statistical questions as I am brainstorming. So I thought I would put out a line and see if anyone had any input!
Thanks for your help!! :)

Welcome to the group Becke. I am a nurse too, along with several other members. Being a patient is different than working. Go ahead and ask any and all questions that pop into your head. Stats are good too.
I bring a written list of questions when I visit any health professionals, my brain goes blank when I am asked if there is anything else. Anything in particular we can help with at this time? Dig into your goals and start your new behaviors and habits, easier to continue them after surgery when the habit is firmly planted now.
I am so ready for spring, enough snow already. Then I do choose to live in northern MN, oh well. Let's lose together. Hugs

i googled a list of questions to ask your bariatric surgeon and adapted it from there. i really needed to know about recovery times and if i needed someone to stay with me because i dont have a lot of support. everyone tells me that i will bounce back by the time i am brought home and can do everything i ever wanted to do basically. so i needed to know the truth or as much of it as i could handle. i just thought of the surgery itself and of what i wanted to know. the assistant and the surgeon and the nurse was who i saw that day. i dont know what yours will be like. the surgeon was only in the room 5 minutes, his assistant 10. hes a very qualified guy but i wish he were more of a people person. it was closing time and he was in a big hurry but i liked him so thats good enough. be ready to expect anything is my motto with the process. ;)
I am not sure what procedure you are considering, but you may google that procedure, read as much as you can on it, then form questions around that information.
Also ask if he will prescribe any current meds you are on for while you are in the hospital, or if you need to bring your own. I think for the most part my questions were best answered by asking those who have been through it, except for things that applied directly to his protocol.
Ask away lady!
