Weighed In Today

Well today was the day.  I finally got to weigh in when I went to the doctor with Michael.  Unfortunately, it didn't quite turn out like I would have liked.  According to the scale, I actually gained a pound.  I weighed in at 300 pounds.  Part of me is really upset.  I mean I have worked so hard since the first of the year and was really hoping that I would see it in the scale.  Then there is the part of me that reminds myself of several things - 1. The last time I weighed in was the middle of October.  Since then we have had Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas.  And goodness knows I ate way too many things I shouldn't have and way too much of everything.  So it's quite possible that I actually went up and just didn't know it cause I can't weigh on a regular scale at home.  2.  The last time I weighed in the weather was nice and I had on light, short pants with a t-shirt where today I had on jeans and a sweatshirt.  So...I can NOT let this discourage me from staying on my newly renewed path.  I have stuck to program and have kept all the things I promised myself I would (keep an accurate food diary, exercise 5 days a week, get all my protein in, etc).  The only thing that really stinks is that since I can't weigh on a regular household scale I won't get to weigh in again until April 14th.  I'm hate that I won't be able to check in weight wise until then.  Hopefully I will get an opportunity to get on a scale sometime between now and then.  Well, I just wanted to check in and let you all know how it went today.

Well, you are right Deanna, there have been 3 major food holidays since you weighed.  You have a solid plan in place.  Let's do this together.  I started out the new year well on the exercise, then work overtook.  Getting back to the gym, starting today.

Starting over with my buddies, hugs.

I think one pound over a period of 3 holidays is phenomenal.  I gained 3 just over Christmas.  And you are right; your clothes have a lot to do with it.  I weigh every day just to keep myself in line.  But if I have to go to the doctor's on a given day I prepare myself for weighing more there than I did at home that morning.  A pair of jeans weigh almost a pound so I don't get too freaked out about it.

You'll be fine!

Deanna... a few thoughts here I would like to share.

Try measuring once a month. This can be a better indicator than weighing, as if you gain muscle as a result of exerciuse, the scale won't tell you how much is fat and how much was lost fat and increased muscle.

Do you feel any better physically or emotionally since you have gotten back on track? If so.. that alone is worth the efforts, and it is bound to pay off in the end on the scale too.

Remember, you will never again lose as quickly as you did immediately post-op. Be patient with yourself and the scale, and just keep doing the right things. It will payt off for you!

Big hugs and tons of encouragement coming your way!

Thanks Patrece.  I know what you mean about measuring and should be doing so.  Since I have no idea where my measuring tape went to I will have to get a new one.  I'm sure it's at my mom's somewhere but she has packed my stuff up and stuck it in the basement and she didn't exactly pack my stuff neatly.  (Long story short, we lived together, had a huge fight, I walked out and moved in with Michael).  As soon as I can get a new one I will.

Yes, I do feel much better emotionally.  I know that what I'm doing is what I should have been doing all along.  I'm glad I made the decision to re-dedicate myself to ME!  I also have noticed some small physical things like I'm able to walk up and down the steps easier.  I just have to keep those things in mind and try not to concentrate so hard on the numbers, something that is very hard to do.

I thank you all for the support you give me.  With your support as well as Michael's I know I will do this!!! The only thing that can stop me is me and I'm not going to let that happen.
