How embarrassing

Hi everyone.

After  my post about all my woes and worries about MS, I had an incident at the doctor's office yesterday.  They called me in and as I was walking into the hallway I fell face first and hit the floor.  Luckily(?) I hit my forehead first because if I hadn't I would have broken my nose.  I have a beautiful scrap across my head that I think I'm going to have my husband take a picture of so that it can be part of my review for my social security in two years.  I guess they review your case every couple of years to make sure that you still qualify.  There were only about 15 people in her waiting room and I wanted to crawl under a rock and die, I was so embarrassed.

I was seeing the ear, nose and throat doctor and told her what was going on with my leg and my foot and she told me to definitely follow up with my PCP and get this checked out.

On a happier note, the last ENT specialist I saw diagnosed me with polyps on my vocal chords.  This doctor checked me out and says that everything is great, and that quitting smoking very often will cause the polyps to shrink and disappear on their own without any treatment, which is what happened with me.  That gives me something new to think about when the urge to smoke hits me.  So I have vocal chords and voice box that are in good health.  I have also gained about 2 octaves of my voice back; I was mistaken on the phone for a man for almost 20 years.

I also have new furniture to look forward to today.  I will be getting my new dining room set sometime today and our new king size mattress and box spring are coming sometime after four.  They now makes beds that are soft on one side and firm on the other to accomodate the way people sleep.  I'm really hoping this will help with some of my back problems.  I'm also hoping that the new dining room set will keep my husband from using it as his desk and dumping everything, including his coats on the back of the chairs, on the table.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed but holding my breath seems a little suicidal!  LOL!

Well that's all for me today.  I should be ready for a shake and supplements here shortly.  I hope you all have a great day.

Thanks Tammy.  The new bed is awesome; I slept like a rock last night.  It was also nice to have a brand new mattress pad that stays cool in the summer months and new sheets.  We are going to be painting the upstairs in the spring.  My hubby and I have very different tastes in furniture and decor but the one thing we both love is Asian decor.  I have a whole bedding outfit on order with dragons, etc. and we will be painting the upstairs in grey, red and metallic gold.  I sure hope it looks as good in reality as it does in my head LOL!  We also picked out new furniture for upstairs that will work with just about any decor so if we get sick of the Asian look we won't have to buy new furniture again.

I love the new dining room set.  It's a lot smaller than the one we had and I picked out a new area rug and bought chair pads and place mats that fit in with the rug. My plan is to have the entire place redecorated by the end of the year or spring of 2012.  My hubby is one of those "bigger/more expensive is better" types and most of the furniture we have is just too big for the rooms.  I used to hate the dining room and I just love it now.

Anyway, that's the update on my furniture.  I will include your mom in my prayers that she finds the willingness to quit.  My motivation was my WLS surgery.  My surgeon will not perform surgery on a smoker and I had to quit at least 6 weeks pre-op.

Here's to having a great day!

OHHHHH Colleen! You poor thing! The ouchy on the head was bad enough ... the ouchy to the pride was too much i am sure. I hope your head and pride both mend quickly.

WOOO HOOO on the vocal cord polyps going away! And even more so on the quitting smoking and staying quit.. Still a battle I fight I hate to admit. I quit, i start, i quit, i start, I cut down, I go back up... blahhhh will i ever win this one? I am currently in a slow down (way down) mode, but it has been creeping up again.. I have to HAVE to just kick this!!!!

Enjoy your new dining table and chairs and bed. DEFINATELY do not hold your breath! Suicidal sounds about right if you do. BUT maybe he'll be better about it for a week or two anyhow??? lol

Hi Patrece!

I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers as you battle the "Nicodemon" as they call it in my Nicotine Busters group.  If you are interested in trying let me know and I'll send the info to join.  It's a great group of people and lots of support there.

And you're right.  I got up this morning and his coat is hanging off the back of the chair.  Oh well.  I have to learn to pick my battles and this is one I don't have the energy for!

Can't wait to talk to you tomorrow; I've really been looking forward to these sessions.

Hey lady! I too am looking forward to working with you to help you make the most of this journey! You will do great!

Hahaha... men.. so predictable sometimes aren't they? You are right too.. you have to pick your battles, so no point in going through one you will never win anyhow..lol.

Yes, please do send the info on the smoking ceasation group. Definately worth checking out. Nicodemon is sooo right. The hardest habit I have ever had to fight but have not given up.
Congrats to you on those awesome stats on your quitting smoking! You are truly an inspiration!
Talk to you tomorrow!

Hugs!

Owieeeeee Colleen, hope your pride heals quickly.  Take care with your balance problems.  Enjoy the new furniture and mattress, the battles, you have insight into that already.

Going to wrap you in bubble wrap or foam padding to prevent bumps and scrapes.  Hugs
