Bariatric Buddy
Under 200lbs at last!!
What a year this has been! Full of learning, doubt, hope and fulfillment. Losing almost 100lbs. has not been easy, but everything considered, it hasn't been hard either. I admit that I'm proud of myself. It feels GOOD to receive astonished looks from people I haven't seen in a long time, and believe me, I got plenty of those over the holidays, since we saw many relatives that we only see this time of the year. My only regret is that I didn't do this 10 years ago (not that the VSG was available here back then!)
I'm not finished. I still have at least 30kg to lose and I'm already planning my strategy to lose this balance. Oh, did I tell you? I go for short WALKS now, with the help of brother! It's not the 3km HE tries to walk every day, but for a paraplegic, 1/2 a km is just as hard.
I've learned SO much this year and the most important lesson has been finding out what works for me. I've been losing in spurts, sometimes going for months without seeing the scale move. It has been frustrating at times but I've kept the faith and so far I haven't been disappointed.
I LOVE my sleeve!

Amalia,
I am so proud of you. My dad always used to say, "Slow but steady wins the race." The longer it takes to come off the greater the chance that it will stay off.
You seem to me to be one of those people *****fuse to let life's little setbacks get them down. You are a very good example for me. Happy Surgiversary!
