Was prompted to share this after reading the post by applecheeks, which reminded me I should sahre my recent experience and forgot about..thanks LOL

Earlier this week.. I ate a hamburger! small.. not even size of my palm- half size so like a mini?.. but it was boiled..and had pickles and ketchup..and I used wheat tortilla shell to hold it..lol.. took me 30-45 mins.. I was freaking scared..and said no way I should be able to eat that!.. I wasnt even full..and I was hungry 1 hr later again- crazy.. however.. while eating.. I took teeny bites..and chewed til pudding in my mouth,..and it tasted so good, and had no problems from it.. but it scared me that I was able to eat that much.. next day.. I couldnt barely eat anything at once and thought maybe it was a fluke or way I chewed made it able to eat as much etc.. and seems back to normal since..but how can I do that ?? no Im not eating burger again for a while less it be in sauce over some wheat pasta... or few bites.. I do not want bad habits..which my friend told me burgers are bad for me.. but my NUT said if I can handle eating them..not over doing it..its fine.. what do you all think??

Why would it be bad for you?  Ground beef is a somewhat soft protein, and at any rate you may have advanced to being able to eat more solid things by now.  I was told to wait 4 months to try beef (or pork, or lamb), but after that I know I'm allowed to.  Is it the tortilla shell you're worried about?  I know I'm supposed to wait to try starches until I can comfortably eat 3oz of protein plus a serving of vegetables at a meal and still have room for more... but it sounds like you're there.

Good for you, finding out a way you can enjoy something you want without it hurting your pouch and without overdoing it!

I guess the red meat factor and the fat content I dont know.. I am on solids, was graduated to them at 7 weeks when I went in for my check up.. I was also told I can do starches.. I eat cream of wheat.. I always liked it..so not a problem..but can not eat very much of it.. No Im not worried about the shell, it was the meat and how much..and possible over doing it.. sometimes when we are distracted while eating or not "thinking" get carried away.. yes it can happen as we are further out.. I got carried away on wheat thins the other day.. I get baked original in the nice white package.. I ate more than I ever thought I would let my self.. I did a bad habit... I ate some while being distracted.. I didnt hurt, but I felt sooo full.. I dont like that feeling.. and I ate only 9 crackers, and I preferr to stay at 5.. but I know my pouch is on course.. but its the things we do not thinking that scare me.. and thank you.. I was so scared I hurt myself unconciously.. so far My Dr is proud of me.. said I am a model patient :) lol.. but need to step up the exercise routine.. my inner thighs are driving me nuts! haha..

I get what you're saying about overdoing it... I was just surprised because it sounded like the burger you had was very small, definitely not more than 3oz, which is what I was told is the goal for meals long-term.  (3 oz that I can't even begin to imagine right now, as I beg my pouch to let me get enough water in!).

sounds to me that you WERE not distracted while eating the hamburger.  (YUM.. BTW, i am drooling). You chewed it to puding first right!!  U were maing a consience effort.  Sounds like a good choice to me.  If your pouch didnt get crany from it and ur NUT is ok with it, then I say stop worrying!!!  As far as the wehat thins go..  LIVE and LEARN.

If you use a fairly lean ground beef, there is nothing at all wrong with you eating it! Ground beef is one of the very very few types of beef I can tolorate still. Just keep it lean.  Usually when i want a burger, I will make a very small one, about 1/2 the size of a regular one, and i use a slice of cheese on it. I wrap it in a lettuce leaf and use whatever other toppings i like. Staying away from the "bread" I think is more vital than the little bit of fat in the meat. FRIED burgers are not good for you. Broiled or grilled burgers from a leaner beef are excellent protein sources. Just don't over eat because they are yummy! lol

Try using a lettuce leaf instead of bread for other foods too.. you will be suprised how yummy it is..
