Checking in

I had my surgery yesterday, and everything is going fine.  I had hoped to make it to chat last night, but my room wasn' t ready.   I was schooled for noon, but they actually got started closer to 12:30, and at 4pm they called my mom and said that they had finished the procedure, and were then just closing my incisions up.

I woke up at 5 pm or so, got up to my room at 8:30, and have been alternating between dozing and trying to catch up on some email.   I'm not in any reel pain; my left shoulder is really sore, which the nurse said is probably gas floating up  I still have the catheter, drain, IV, and things on my legs for circulation. The doctors just came in, and the catheter is coming out this morning.  I start the stage 1 diet at breakfast, which means that I will have something to sip on as soon as the order  goes into the system. That's really what's bothering me the most; I am SO dry.

Nothing else to report for now.   I'll check in later.  For those having surgery soon and feeling nervous: don't be!  My imagination was far worse than reality; it's been a little over 12 house, and I feel great!

The liquids actually aren't too bad at this point.  I've had around 24 oz broth, 1/2c sf jello, and around 48 oz water.  Obviously, I'm now making the recommended 64oz fluids... but I'm pretty close!  I guess they weren't concerned, because they took me of the IV eerier this afternoon. Now I have no catheter, no IV, and no drain - all came out today.

Glad to hear the surgery went well and that you are on your way to healthier life style. My anxiety level I think wont be so bad when I have my surgery on the 17th. I will look forward to follow your progress.
