Dumping.....oh hell!

Yesterday I didn't eat anything. Not on purpose, just wasn't hungry and kinda forgot since I didn't feel hunger and when it did hit me I decided that I would eat some chili flavored Top Ramen.  I had 3 small bites and decided to stop.  I put on a movie and started to snack on some "Turtle" flavored Chex mix.  I probably had too much of it.  Within 5 minutes of quiting.  I started to feel nauseous then I got sweaty and my heart started pounding.  It didn't stop there either.  This pressure and horrible pain took over.

I ended up on the toilet with a plastic bag.  I didn't know which end I was gonna have a problem with.  I was literally crying on the toilet cussing myself out for being so careless.  I finally threw up.  I didn't see any food.  It was all stomach acid.  I don't understand why.  I thought the food would have came up.  Anyhow, it wasn't instant relief but it was better.  Took about an hour to really feel better.  This will not happen again!

OHHHH poor honey! Dumping is indeed miserable! Avoid it at all costs. Thats part of how our tool works so effectively fo us.

Just as a suggestion... do try to avoid taking in so many carb items. They are one of the number one contributor to weight gain / regain. Try to focus on protein based foods and fruits and veggies for now.

Sometimes the food cannot come up because it is just too thick. When you do experience the food coming up you will be so grossed out. It reminds you of the texture of canned dog food.. thick and nasty. I am supised you had bile, usually we do not have much bile after RNY.

Take out your eating plan and try to shop accordinly and try to avod snack foods and instant foods and prepared foods. They are the worst. This is one of the hard adjustments we need to make for long term success. Even if some of these foods do not contribute to weight gain, they do not have the kind of nutrition fresher foods do, and we need all of the nutrition we can get.

Silly thing is that I kinda knew it was gonna happen.  I had an impulse rather than actually being hungry.  I laid my behind on the couch and picked up an old habit.  Lesson learned.

Yes... it is easy to do! Takes a while to get into the new habits and mindsets. You will be fine, just have to try to stay on guard so those old habits don't just pop up on ya!

I have learned a few lessons the hard way too.. I am sure all of us do.. human nature!
Hugs!

Gigi so sorry you had to go through that. I am scheduled for surgery on RNY surgery on 1/17/11. Stories like yours is what will keep the rest of us from making the same mistakes. Hope you are feeling better.
