The dreaded 2 week preop liquid diet has begun

Pre-op diet started at MN last night, while I was at work.  Good thing that I was busy at work, because I was able to fight through the snack attack. I didnt necessarily pack appropriate lasnight.  Tonight will be a different story.  I did eat 2 starbursts candies at work lasnight, but I do not feel too bad considering all the crap that I said no to when my body/mind was screaming eat it.  I did come home this morning starving though.  I am sure that it was just "head hunger".  My game plan to deal with that was to just go to bed.  Looking back, I probably should have drank a protein shake.  Lesson learned.  Will drink one when I get home in the morning b4 I go to bed.  My kitchen though leaves alot to be desired.  I am gonna get TEC to clean it out and/or put things out of sight.  Had a family weekend and there is alot of sweets left over.

Sorry I have been MIA, but have been busy working and spending HOLIDAY time with friends and family since I am staying clear of them all for the next 2 weeks..  Dont want to be around food and definitely dont wanna be "crabby" to my family and friends.

Wishing you all  a Merry Christmas...  I am just hoping that I get trough this coming weekend without a slip up in my diet.... Being a nurse, there is always goodies that familes have brought in to us. .. Not to even mention all the crap we usually bring in as well..

BUT HEY!!!  I AM ONE DAY CLOSER TO SURGERY.  IN JUST 13 DAYS I WILL BE BEGINNING THE JOURNEY TO A NEW ME!!!!!

Sounds like you're doing great so far!  I started the liquid diet last Monday, and the first couple of days were AWFUL.  By day 3, I was doing much better, and even back to cooking dinner for my daughter (yes, bad mom, Monday and Tuesday I made her fend for herself while I avoided to kitchen).  I did cheat over the weekend and feel bad about it, but I was back on track yesterday.

I bought some sf gum (not sure if it's allowed, I opted not to ask), which helps when I just want to put something in my mouth and chew.

Keep up the good work, not long until surgery now!

Considering how hard it is to quit eating "cold turkey" a couple of starburst won't hurt.  It's the fact that you know better now and can properly prepare for work.

I wish you all the best as you begin this last phase before surgery.  Hang in there; you can do this.

The first 3 days are the hardest. You body is gong though a de-carb process, much like whe a drug addict stops cold turkey,.. only your drug is sugar, carbs and food. After day 3 you will feel muchly better! Just remember those little sugary cheats, will prolong the decarb process, and you will struggle longer through it. That being said tho, it is not easy and I know this. You did much better than you would have if you were not on the liquid diet, and all in all it sounds like you did well, but please do bring the protein shakes and turn to them when you need something. Going hungry will not be beneficial to getting through this time. One step at a time, one choice at a time.. just do the next RIGHT thing.

The countdown is on and I am thrilled for you! Hang in..it will get easier! And yes as stated above, the time will go much faster than you think it will.
Hugs!

thank you all for your support and warm wishes.  Day 2 is almost over.  I will say that I feel lie total crap.  I am tired and my head hurts.  Could be a combo of carb withdraws, caffeine withdraws, and lack of sleep today.

All-in-all today has been a better day.  even stopped and got TEC some fast food for dinner.  The smell was quite nauseating, but I didnt break down.

Still cant believe that I only have less than 2 weeks to go til surgery.
