I had my first experience with a buffet tonight and not just any buffet but golden corral the best carb-liclous buffet there ever was! LOL. up to this point ive made a few big slip ups and ive really turned my life around. i get down but i am saying no much easier than i ever have in my entire life. Well i did what the nut said (i made it through thanksgiving with minimal weight gain also but a couple pounds was a big deal to me) I looked at everyything they had and it was btwn lunch and dinner. i knew i wanted steak so i got a plate of veggies , 1 small protein, and 1 starch. I waited for the steak didnt even eat 1/2 of the piece they offered to me. even tried to cheat and take a whole serving of french fries and had 3 (tiny tiny ones) and said this doesnt taste good enough to blow it. i had a small bowl of fruit and ate 1/2 of it. and 1 1/2 rolls which was too many and got upset over it a little. said no to dessert. didnt even have one bite. was going to take some strawberries but they weren't ripe and so i threw them away. i forgot my meds this morning, cat ate my cell phone, didnt turn gabbys outfit inside out and ruined it, and am just not having a good day. but hey i made it through this one a little stronger and wiser than i was before. i got on the scale like i bad girl when i got home and i didn't gain anything eating out either.

NSV's DO count no matter where you are in this journey. Any victory is a victory. You do not have to have had surgery to make great accomplishments...so do not steal the victory from yourself or belittle it. You deserve credit for all of the good choices you makie.

I must say I have really witnessed a beautiful transformation in you over the last several months, and I am so proud of you and the effort you have put into this. It will serve you well my friend, and already is!

Good for you on passing on desert. Good for you on not indulging in eating all of the french fires. I really liked your comment about it didn't taste good enough to blow it. That will be a tool you will need to employ after wls.. when temptation knocks.  Seld talk like that can make all the difference. I often ask myself when facing temptation "is eating this worth blowing the efforts I put out to stay healthy? Is this pouch worthy? Did I go through all of this to set myself back with this food item?" Remember NOTHING tastes as good as being thinner and healthy feels. NOTHING! 30 seconds of taste bud sensation is not worth days of fighting carb cravings and increased hunger. These self reminders can help me so much when faced with temptation.

Step away from the scale for a couple of days..lol You cannot live as a slave to the scale. It is a great accountability tool, but do not use it as a way to measure how much you can "push things". and remember weight fluctuates many times throughout the day.. Most reliable reading is one taken at the same time, under the same cir****tances each time.

Keep up the great attitude and good work! Wooo Hoooo

thank you it was actually your post about the holidays that inspired me during the "difficult" time for lack of a better word. i am passing on more snacks and u are right i am trying to "push" it with the scale. I will weigh one more time tomrrow then give the batteries to hubby until my appointment on december 28th at cleveland clinic. if i could learn to weigh once a week it would be awesome but i am sooo addicted. i am really tired tonight but i wanted to write back. i am also exercising every other day. but frustrated that the weight is coming off much slower than it used to. i am going to get a foodsaver though! i really want a deep chest freezer too but maybe its not worth the extra 2-3 hundred dollars. i just like to shop for the whole month and wont be able to anymore soon for lots of reasons and since i found out i can freeze foods i really want to be able to have more freezing space. lol. but the more i think about it the more i think it is a really bad choice financially. the shakes and vitamins alone are going to put a dent in our taxes.

Oh Don't get me wrong.. I truly understand the obsession with the scale, I think most of us who fight the battle of the buldge do... it is just better for us emotionally not to put ourself through it so often due to normal fluctuations that can be sometimes misleading to us.

As far as the freezing of foods, trust me, the amounts you will be eating right after your surgery will be so small, you will be able to tuck the freezer packets in the spaces between other things. Imagine a hard boiled egg. Not an extra large one either. Thats how big your pouch will be. and it will not hold that much, only the equivalant to one of those plastic medicine cups  that a clinic or hospital gives you meds in. yOU'LL LOOK AT IT AND THINK.. WHAT WILL THIS DO FOR ME? Then when you eat it, you will find out it will fill you! A word of advice.. do not eat until full.. only until satisfied, as you do not want to stretch out your pouch prematurely, or damage it while healing.

I am glad my post inspired you to make better choices. Makes me feel good when I know I am benefiting others.
