Taking care of YOU this holiday season... Some thoughts I'd like to share.

I just wanted to offer encouragement to you all to be sure to take time out to take care of your wls needs and any other needs during this hectic time of the year. It can be hard, so maybe schedule in some self care time. Also remember that Christmas isn't about the food and drink, it is about Love, and family and Christ ( for those who are believers). I have learned over the years that the fulfillment I get from being with those I love and really enjoying the time together is more nourishing, filling and satisfying than any morsel I could ever put into my mouth. AND it doesn't make me gain weight or beat myself up over being "bad'.

The New Year is right around the corner, and with it we can enjoy the opportunity for making new plans and goals and new better decisions for our health, and happiness. Lets focus on the things that will truly bring us joy and fulfillment in the long run, rather than feeling blah because we got off track, overinduldged, and have to struggle to get back to where we should be.

Wishing you all a VERY MERRY Christmas and the abslolute most amazing and victorious NEW YEAR to come!

How awesome! I am so happy for you and your daughter. What a most special occassion to share.
I must say, you sound much more upbeat than you did a couple of weeks ago. I am sooo glad for that!

Thank you for the reminder about taking care of ourselves, Patrece.  Between baking for the holidays, shopping, and running back and forth to the hospital to my MIL, I have most definitely NOT been taking care of me.  Surprisly, I managed to lose 1/2 pound.

You are right; it isn't and shouldn't be all about the food, but it so often comes down to that.  I didn't do too badly last year during the holidays and I'm praying that I won't over do it with goodies again this year.

Colleen, How IS your MIL doing? How are you and your hubby holding up?

You are so right. All too often it does end up coming down to the food. Thats why I wanted to encourage everyone to remember that the food IS NOT what is truly about.  Mabe card games, board games? Trivia games...something that can engage everyone that is calorie free!

Congrats on the 1/2 lbs loss.

Hugs!
