Good Saturday to all!
I actually slept in this morning; I didn't wake up until 8:30 AM. Hubby is off to pack up and move his mom and I'm here at home, getting ready to start my baking. I'll probably check in a few times (at least) today while I'm dealing with all that temptation. The first batch of cookies is one that is a family tradition but we haven't made it in a few years, I have never attempted it before and don't like them that much anyway so hopefully this one won't be much of a problem. It's a two day project so that will keep me occupied. I'm going to mix and back an my mom will do the decorating. It's a basic recipe that you do a lot of different things to when you decorate them.
I bought a pre-mixed protein shake at Trader Joe's yesterday and it was terrible! I ended up throwing it away before it hit me that I could maybe dress it up a little bit with Nestle's Quik. I do have one more chocolate and a vanilla so I can experiment with them. I should have a handle on this by now, seeing as how I'm over a year out, but I still gag on the protein shakes.
Happy to report that I did get my supplements in for the morning. I know that's a no-brainer for most of you but that is most definitely a victory for me. I have one New's Years resolution and that is too keep on my supplement program. I'm starting early but that's okay. I am going to try and get on my bike as much as possible over the winter months. Right now there is too much ice an snow but we will have days when the ice is gone and nothing but pavement to worry about.
My son went to spend the week at his father's house so it's going to be kind of qiuet here without him. But he was here last Christmas to that's okay. I will go pick him back up on the 27th. Don has to work on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day and I don't know what I'm going to make for dinner. I'm sure as heck not going to all the trouble of making a turkey when it's only going to be 3 people and even the capon I bought is too big. Oh well, I'll come up with something; maybe a small roasted chicken.
Ok, now that I have bored you all to death, I'll get back to baking and washing dishes. Have a great, stress-free weekend everybody; we only have one week to Christmas!
Colleen
Glad your weekend is sounding like its going well. I am going to be baking today too.. we got a church dinner tomorrow and I got the turkey.. so hope nothing goes wrong!
I am also baking more monday.. while kids are in there last few days of school before christmas break.. they tend to eat my cookies before I can get enough baked for the holidays lol... they are fast and sneaky.. I am putting in a pan in the oven and turn around and another pan is gone... SO... they cant be here when baking...lol....
Good job on getting your supplements in.. I sometimes forget to get my calcium in , but not often.. I wish you lots of luck on your new years resolution.. mine is to get a treadmill income tax time and a bike.. I dont have either anymore.. got rid of my old treadmill when i exceeded the weight limit..and well.. bike.. um... its disappeared some how..lol..
I can't wait til Christmas is here.....and gone..hahaa.. ok the stress is more like it.. I love giving,.. but not love the havoc and chaos with shopping and selfishness thats not what this holiday is about... ..anyways.. NEXT...lol
I am doing absolutely NO baking this year, don't usually anyhow. I am not so much into baking, but enjoy cooking when OI have people to cook for that appreciates it. Wishing you the best of luck in getting through the baking and not having too much difficulty saying no.
I am NOT really ready for Christmas. I have most of my shopping done, 5 gifts left to get. All the wrapping to do. AND have to do grocery shopping for Christmas dinner. Our Christmas tradition for dinner, I started years ago when my kids were little. We have prime rib, baked potato with cheese and bacon etc.., salad and garlic toast. Then usually some kind of desert. Now I only have a very small portion of the baked potato, filling up mostly on the meat and salad, and passing on the garlic toast, although I love the stuff. No desert for me unless i have fruit in the house, which rarely do I not have it. Desert usually comes an hour or two after dinner for me anyhow, as I try to focus on getting in that protein. once i do that and eat the salad, I will NOT want to overfill myself by trying desert right after.
I too wish you and everyone a very awesome and merry Christmas. And remember the holiday is about enjoying the time with ur loved ones and remembering what the holiday is really about. It isn't about pre-meditated glutinism..lol. Fill up on love and just eat what you need to to satisfy your nutritional needs.
