Hello to all my Bariatric Buddies.  I thought I would check in and hope the temps rise while I'm on here.  Our wind chill is currently -6.  I am NOT looking forward to cleaning off the car and finishing my Christmas shopping in this weather.  But with Christmas only 12 days away I have to get it done because I have to start baking on Saturday and will be in the kitchen just about every day until the day after Christmas.

My MIL had a mild to moderate stroke a couple of weeks ago.  She lives by herself and when my SIL went to go get her to go shopping she was very confused and just plain out of it.  Her sister took her into emergency last Thursday and they admitted her.  During a routine chest x-ray, they discovered spots all over her lungs and they are pretty sure it's cancer; they are doing the biopsy today.  We spoke to the doctor and he says because it's not localized it's inoperable.  I have a feeling that if they decide on chemo or radiation she will refuse treatment.  If any of you are on the fence about quitting smoking I strongly urge you to do so.  She quit in 1983 and still ended up with lung cancer.

Beyond that my food has been pretty good; I'm getting my fluids in but I still don't think I'm getting enough.  I was up half the night with cramps in both legs and my left foot. I am going to try and get an additional 32 oz. in but don't know if I can.  With that much fluid I won't be able to eat anything and I don't care much for that idea either.

Well I'm off to brave the frozen tundra.  Any prayers for my MIL are greatly appreciated.

My prayers for your MIL are rising now. Hope you get enough fluids in - it isn’t easy.  I do two protein drinks/day or I don't make my required amount of liquid or protein.

Stay warm.

My prayers are absolutely going up for your MIL, and all of her loved ones. Big hugs to you all. I am so sorry. My Grandfather had lung cancer when I was a child. They removed portions of both lungs. 6 years later it came back and went into the bones, and when it reached his brain, that was the end. He died on my 11th birthday. And stupid me.. smokes. Go figure. the one vice I cannot seem to manage to kick.

Brr don't freeze lady.. man thats cold! They are calling for lots of snow here tonight and tomorrow. We need the moisture, but would prefer rain and warmer temps..lol.

It takes some strategy to get in all the liquids and meals, but once you get a stategy that works for you, it does get easier. We will have to brainstorm on this!

Take care, nice to hear from you. Soooo sorry about your MIL. Hope your hubby is holding up ok.
