What information needs to be included on my medic alert bracelet?

This is what I have on mine:

Gastric bypass
RNY 9-30-09
No ANSAIDS
No NGT (nasal gastric tubation?)

I'm not sure if I have the "T" right but they should NOT do anything that requires having a tube run up your nose and into your pouch via camera i.e. "blind"

Hope that helps.  Others may have something different.  I also carry the card the surgeon gave me and it has the same information on it.

Please note the correction I made in the above response.  That should read "NOT" do anything that requires the tube in your nose.

Sorry for the typo.

I don’t have a medical alert bracelet.  On my cell phone under my ICE (in case of emergency) contact I put ‘NO NG TUBE!’.  There wasn’t room for any other info; but I also carry my surgeon’s medical emergency card and there is more info on that.

Out of curiosity, how many others wear (or don’t wear) medical alert bracelets?  Does anyone have any other options?

RNY on 03/16/10 with

Mine reads:

RNY BYPASS
NO BLIND NG
NO NSAIDS
ALLERGY:PENNICILLAN (spelled correctly of course!) lol

I do wear mine, but not as often as I should.

They have medical alert dog tags too, if you are wanting something to not show.

I have a medic alert bracelet. Wear it all the time, it lists my allergies, my diabetes (NIDDM - non insulin dependent diabetes melitis) RNY, ICE #, surgeon # and no blind NG tube, no nsaids. I found one that allowed me to have engraving on both sides. As I took a look, I think I may need to order a new one, the side that faces out is starting to get worn and scratched and harder to read.

I also have a medic bracelet, and it has never left my arm.
It says:
Adjust Gastric Band
No N/G w/o scope
Doctor
phone number

I also carry a card in my purse. I don't trust the paramedics to look in my purse or my cell phone first.

I was told by an ER nurse, however, that if the procedure is to save your life, they will stick a tube down your throat, even if you have a medical bracelet.
