This group is a wonderful find. The welcomehas been warm and everyone has gone out of their way to be frinedly. Unfortunatley, another group we tried, Say Almost Anything, was not nice and Mom is now saying "I told you so". My position is that the reason we tried so many different boards was to test the waters and we have succeeded in our goal of weeding out the undesireables. But she remains shaken. For now I will encourage her to sit with me when I am able to log on and talk with you. Congratulations on your upcoming surgery date - it will be the day your life changes forever.
Hi Mom and Dr Danny,
I too don't usually participate in on-line chat stuff, but I'm finding this site, and this group to be very beneficial. I get answers to questions, the opportunity to whine, and good recipe and activity ideas. I haven't seen any rude or angry stuff. So often, like on yahoo, it seems comments become hurtful or political. Not here, it's all about our journey.
I'm in North Carolina, love my husband, son, daughter-in-law, my three dogs, in that order. I'm having surgery 12/15 and am sort of scared and consumed by the idea. This site connects me to people in my boat, so I don't feel isolated and don't have to burden my family constantly with ME, ME, ME. Anyway, I'm thankful I took that typing class in high school. I almost didn't because I didn't want to become a "secretary". That was before PC's and the Internet. Who knew?
Please Mom, join us.

PS. Dr Danny, show Mom the spell check button right next to the smiley face. It's a lifesaver for me.

Hello Cheryl and thank you for your introduction and your helpful hint about the spell check. I hadn't yet noticed that button but I think I better start using it. Haha. Mom told me that not wanting tp have to be a secretary is exactly why SHE didn't take a typing class, too! From your account, it sounds like you are having a perfectly healthy reaction to your upcoming surgery. Listen to your fears and do whatever you need to do to resolve them. The number one thing I always have my clients do is to research every kind of bariatric surgery and report to me all pros and cons of each as applied to them. Sometimes clients will end up choosing a different surgical procedure during this process and otherwise being well informed often allays a good deal of their fear. You have taken good steps to find this friendly group to expand your support system. In only a couple of weeks your life will start over congratulations!
