Happy Thanksgiving to allQ

Good morning to all and Happy Thanksgiving!!!!!  I hope you all have a wonderful day with family and friends.  Hubby was up at 2AM after a brief nap and then started baking.  My mom made 2 apple pies, a pecan pie and a banana cream pie before she hit the rack last night; all of it going to my BIL & SIL house where we will be having dinner tonight.

I try to do this every day but especially when it's Thanksgiving.  Although I don't share it with the group, maybe I should. So starting today, here is my gratitude list.

I'm grateful for all my friends and family.
I'm grateful for this group and all who participate in it.
I'm grateful for my surgery and the difference it has made in my life.
I'm grateful that I'm healthy although I don't have the right to be (I don't follow the rules).
I'm grateful to be smoke free, even though I want a cigarette badly.
I'm grateful that I will be able to attend the retreat in June, although I have a lot of traveling arrangements to make if I actually want to get to the retreat.  I don't fly so it's either bus, train, or rent a car.  Either way, I will probably will have to rent a car when I get there.  It looks like Pueblo is the closest on the map to Canon City so if I have that wrong please correct me Patrece.

Has anybody else noticed that their mouth tastes weird after surgery?  I'm about 13 months out and my mouth tastes really weird, like something is wrong with my taste buds.  I don't know else to describe it.  I had a heck of a time making stuffing this morning because everything tasted so weird.  I was wondering if it was another bout of ketosis since
I've been losing weight again.  I'm down to 15.4 to goal weight. I never thought I'd be here. I also just got my first pair of size 10 pants. Oh well, hopefully dessert will taste weird.

I hope you all have a beautiful day.

Hey lady! You have an awesome thanksgiving as well! Try not to behave too badly..lol

Now because I love you I must tell you this... (you know me)... You do have to start following the rules soon here, as once you get to 2 to 3 years out, the regain will come back to bite you in the behind! I want to see you stay healthy and happy. So start taking some baby steps toward getting the rules in place and keeping them there. This is something we will definately be working on together. I have a gal in my live support group that did the same as you are, and now she is 6 years out and has regained over 120 lbs of the 180 she lost.

Yes, Pueblo is the closest to Canon City. If you come in to pueblo by bus, I can pick you up at the bus station and you can come back to my place and leave for the retreat with me and Kathy and Julie. Would be best if you can get in at least the day before the retreat.

With your recent weight loss i would say you are in ketosis. It usually creates a kind of almost metalic taste in your mouth and definately interferes with flavors. Ya know.. if you are careful with your food, you can take great advantage of being in ketosis to lose even more!

Congrats on the size 10 pant! How excting is that!!! You are almost down to where I am. I am in an 8. I would have loved another bout of ketosis, earlier this month, but.. lol I leave Sat for my Plastics touch up work, and do NOT want to lose more after that as it does cause things to not be so nice and tight. I am at a normal BMI, feeling good and keep hearing that I am thin enough.. so My focus will be on stregnthening and toning, rather than losing  once i am ready after this round.

Have an awesome Holiday. If you must indulge in the no-no's, try to allow yourself just one bite of each no-no you want, and only after you eat your healthy choices. This leaves less room for the not so good for you stuff. Remember honey... the taste lasts but a moment, the potential negatives last much longer!
Hugs to you!

Looking forward to seeing you in June Colleen, the retreat sounds like a blast.  Invite any wls friends to come join us.  Congrats on getting close to goal.  I try to behave myself, enjoyed Thanksgiving without over indulging.  The best part was visiting with my dad for the week before the holiday and spending time with my hubby's family on the day of Thanksgiving.  We went out to eat.  Low stress for all of us.

Cooking the turkey for ourselves today.  Look for update on leftover ideas.  I found a recipe for chicken and cranberries that I want to try with turkey leftovers.  I will share my results with the group  later on.

I made the mistake of heading out to pick up a couple of things at the local store yesterday, forgot that it was black friday shopping.  Whoooooo, the crowds.  I will wait to get the rest of my shopping on a quieter day.
