Pre-Op Liquid Diet Monster

I have become the Pre-Op Liquid Diet Monster.  Yesterday I felt terrible and still do today.  I cheated with a 200 calorie brownie yesterday and had a cookie three hours ago.  I am cranky, mad, sad, very very strong emotions.  And all I want to do is sleep.

My preparations are complete except for cleaning the house, which out of spite I might leave to hubby for being such a lazy bum and sleeping when he can hear my grouchy rambling through the house.

hey! you are almost there, and apparenty fueled by nervous enegy. Cleaning house might help take the edge off, but I am seldom in the mood myself.

How about a walk to get you away from temptations or maybe you have a favorite movie to rewatch?

Hey Sharon,

The mood hasn't dissipated, it seems to get worse lol.  I am going to watch Boys Before Flowers, this great Korean Drama i've been watching.

Honey... take a deep breath and get all of the cookies and brownies and other stuff like that OUT of the house. You my friend are going through carb withdrawls. By feeding them, you are only prolonging your misery. Carb withdrawl can be a nasty experience, complete with headache, fatique, cravings, mood swings, anger, depression, etc.

You need to take 3 FULL days and not give in at all. The 3rd day is the very worst. By day 4 you will notice a significant improvement and reduction in cravings. You must do this for your surgery, and you must break the emotional eating thing too, for lifelong success. Know i understand how you are feeling, and I know it is NOT easy. But because I care about you and your success, I HAVE to do my best to encourage you to get where you need to be. So here are some tips to help you get through this...

1) If you feel the need to sleep, then sleep. It will help get you through this phase, and decarbing does make one quite fatigued.

2) Get all of the no-no's (things that may be too tempting for you) out of the house, or put somewhere that you cannot access them. Tell your family you need and insist on cooperation in this, or you will remove them from the house altogether...works like magic..lol.

3) When you start thinking you need one of these foods you know you shouldn't have, remind yourself that the taste only lasts but a moment. The damage done by eating them, lingers on and on, and you have to re-start the whole decarbing again. Also remind yourself that to get away from these things now, will highly benefit you post-op. These are some of the things that got us to where we felt we had to do this surgery to ever get healthy again.. we do not want to bring them along after surgery. They will come back to haunt us later...believe me. I know too many people who have regained a significant amount, if not all and then some, due to not changing food choices and living a wls friendly way.

4) Turn to another activity that brings you a "feel good". It may be a nice hot bubble bath, reading a sappy novel, getting creative and doing some kind of crafting, going for a walk somewhere nice, getting your feet done (pedicure), journaling, posting here in our group, meditation (if you have never done this, maybe you could make a choice to begin learning it...it can be very beneficial. google it, there are lots of free resources that will guide you in it as you learn), reach out for a hug from someone you love, etc..
Make a list of alternatives so when you are faced with cravings again, you can pick up the list and pick something healthier to do instead of eating what you shouldn't be.

This is HARD.. I know it is. BUT you will be so blessed by fighting your way through this early time of adjustment. YOU CAN DO IT! YOU must do it! You will do it! I have total faith in you!

Your surgery is tomorrow? NO MORE CHEATS!!!!
Hugs and love and positive vibes coming at you!

Hey Patrece!

Thank you for the extra informatoin.  After I read your response last night, I gave up and went to sleep.  I felt so bad yesterday.  But I woke up today and the pounding throbbing headache and desire to raid the fridge and be hateful to everyone is gone.  lol  The beast is in its cage.

I woke up at 11pm and had a few sips of Gatorade and truly I was starting to feel nauseous.  I was afraid I would regret not drinking more when I woke up in the morning but here I am.  So far so good.

So thank you so very much.  =)
