Finally made the decision to try again for surgery after an initial attempt in 2007.  This time I am so much more certain that this is the path for me.  Severity of my co-morbidity ailments is increasing and just made the mental leap that I have to choose between the lesser of two evils.  So I'm jumping through all the insurance and preop hoops and have started living as if I already have had the surgery.  Starting to understand what a comitment this is, but believe it is the right path for me.  I know I will need to reach out to all of you to be successful, so thanks in advancefor  any and all advice/guidance/support.

Welcome! It's my personal opinion that you have made a GREAT decision. I was on a one-way path to an early grave but hadn't realised it. It feels SO good to be finally rid of tons of co-morbidities, insane ailments and much ungainly fat. I feel that this was the BEST decision I EVER made for myself. I wish you the best of luck and keep us posted.

Thanks Amalia.  Can relate to the early grave part.  So glad to hear from others who chose to get healthy.  And wouldn't mind looking better either.  Thanks for the encouragement.

This path is very important and I am proud of you for not letting past influence you to not try again. I started living to teh commitment before surgery and it helped alot.. I even changed my foods and everything to help the transition.. I did have one splurg before surgery.. but I been great other than that.  And as everyone else... I do not regrett this decision and I had alot of comorbdity issues as well.. I couldnt even walk through walmart... was a great struggle.. I can also say, coming to OH and this group.. and the people that reached out to me, helped so greatly and made the surgery more understanding and the post op wasnt so scary.. My advice.. is read everything, and any silly lil question, do not be afraid to ask.. I even whine at times..and shall again..lol.. but I do wish you the best on this journey of a new life and will be here as teh rest will be to help you.

Thanks so much!  I feel really strong in the decision, so think I am ready.  Glad to hear confirmation that living it before hand is a good choice.  Just got home from hobbling thru stores myself, so hear ya there.  Can't wait to be done with it all.  Elevating my legs at night to reduce the edema, makiing my husband slow down and wait as we walk together, seeing 70 year olds walk faster than I can.   Anything will be better than this.

Welcome to our group! It is great to have you join us.

I too, put off my wls far too long. Had I done it 4 years prior when I first wanted to, I would have had much less to lose, and far fewer co-morbidities to encounter. BUT I finally did it in July of 2008, and I have NEVER regretted my decision...ever! I am now at a normal BMI and far healthier, and look and feel so much better physically and mentally.

We are here for you as you embrace this decision and begin the task of jumping through the hoops. Ask anything, read past posts as they are very informative, and reach out anytime! Sometimes people get busy and there's not alot going on here, but there's usually someone around to lend some advice and encouragement.

Again, welcome to our group.
