Stalling so soon?????

I had surgery on 10/19/2010.  In the first 2 weeks I lost about 21 lbs.  This last week I have lost about 2.  I don't understand.  I keep telling myself that I am blessed to lose what I've lost so far but cant help to get frustrated that in a week I've only lost 2 and really not even 2 because there were a few days that I had somehow managed to gain 3lbs.  I walk a mile each day (May not be much to some but for me its a lot and I'm doing it daily).  The only thing that I can eat without being in pain is a yoplait 100 calorie lite yougurt.  Other than that I am still on protein, broth, water and crystal light.  I am seriously starving and that isnt even producing results.

On top of that I mad as hell because I was regular before, like clock work each morning I had a BM.  Now I am only prodicing one small one every 4 days or so.

I am so pissed right now that it is making me stay in bed a lil bit longer each day.  I dont want it to be like this.  I felt totally down last night but told myself that if I didnt get up to walk then I'm might as well not have had the surgery and got my but out of the bed.

I need to stop complainin.  All I can do really is exercise more but I dont think I have enough energy for that.

Can someone please tell me that it is ok to not lose anything for a week? Other wise I am going to go crazy.

Gigi... relax and take a deep and cleansing breath, then read on...

I hit my first plateau at 11 days out from my RNY surgery. It lasted almost 2 weeks. Then the loss started again at a nice rate. Relax and enjoy this journey, for all that it is.. the good bad and frustrating. There will always be a mix of these things along the way.

Your body has to adjust as time goes by. A plateau is on wayit does so. It is attempting to keep you from starving to death in its way of programming for our survival. Usually during these stall outs, we do lose inches still. But we need to be ok with ths, and allow our bodies time to bounce back a bit. After all, look at all we have and are putting our body through.

2 things to make sure of at this point. You are getting in your water and protein. If so, relax. If not get it in and then relax. You may try to up your protein just a touch, often this can break one out of a stall in weight loss.

Do not EVEN let this go getting you depressed honey. It is all a part of the journey, and we have to accept this journey as a whole.. not just the parts we like. You are going to do fine and be fine.. just stay focused, keep doing the right things and you will see those pounds begin to fall off again.

Now.. give that scale to your mother! lol.

Hugs and love to you. It will be ok! I promise! As long as you follow the rules you are going to succeed! Head up...smile on face.. and keep on keeping on lady!

You are very welcome! Know this is not the only stall out in loss you will encounter.. just the first, which is scarey if you didn't know to expect it.
Be happy lady! You are doing great and your body is just doing the normal thing in response to the situation. You are gonna kick butt girl!

All is well...
Hugs!

Gigi, I had very similar thoughts during the early stages.  I lost in jumps and plateaus too.  Follow the plan set up by your surgical team and you will have success.  I am here for your support.  Walking a mile is wonderful, could you do that a year ago?  It took us a lifetime to be where you were at the time of your decision for surgery.  The loss will take some time, our bodies are constantly trying to adjust to the changes that are happening.

Having moments of pure exhaustion.  Rest, sip, get in the protein and tackle walking when you can.  Do not become a slave to the scale.  It does not control your life or your feelings.  Hold your head high, you made a life changing decision, followed through on having the surgery and the best is yet to come.  Hugs Gigi.
