Gallbladder surgery

Hello Everyone

Sorry I am not around a lot. life with these 3 BEAUTIFUL kids keeps me pretty busy. I just so blessed to have them in my life right now. The weight loss couldn't have been better planned ( not knowing we would get the kids when I did the surgery)

I have an excuse to walk almost everyday. 1 of the 3 kids is a "carpool" kid. So every afternoon i walk to the school to get her. They say it is a 9 block walk, but doesn't seem like it at all. I will have to find my pedometer to see what it really equals out to. Between not being able to eat a lot of foods & adding in the extra walks I having been doing pretty good. And continue to feel better about myself.

I am now bouncing back in forth between 169 and 167 ... but I am so happy!!! Everyone tells me I look good. And I found respect in myself. I am still very shy at times in what  I wear. But I find myself dressing up more often. And wear more girly clothes then hiding behind men's  tee shirts and jean. I'm still a tee shirt and jeans girl. But they are women's shirts, not men's! And I find myself shopping at stores I didn't before.

I have a question, next Friday November 12th. I am having surgery to remove my gallbladder. Last night while at dinner a friend told me that I cant eat a lot of foods I eat now, such as tomatoes, and tomato sauce, and greasy foods. High acid foods. Is this true. Is it temporary or a lifetime? Right now with all the pain from eating i feel like I am narrowed down to grilled or boiled chicken and vegetables. I miss a lot of foods. Steak, pork shops, ribs, yummy, things I was eating before the pain came along.

I know this will be nice and easy compared to gastric bypass, but I so worried as to how long I am gonna be down, and how much pain. Being this is my 3rd surgery this year, I am out of sick time, so I am kinda rushing back to work Monday night, my boss says he'd rather I didn't call out BUT my health is important. I'm pushing to be back Monday night. Saturday I have a foster parent class I'm trying to make it to, but they said if I cant make it, no problem they will help me. But I'm pushing to be there. I have 3 kids *****ly on me to be healthy and able to play. And I feel so bad that I just cant. And I hope they understand. Friday night I have their dad picking them up and taking them to dinner so I can just sleep and recover. with out having one of them jump on me, or push my buttons. My husband is wonderful with him, but I don't want me to be an extra problem for him to worry about. So I just decided let them go to their dad's until bedtime.

If anyone can answer my questions, Id appreciate it. I'm scared but know it will be easy. It s done in a same day surgical center, so I know I will be home Friday night. I'm worried about the pain, and how it will slow me down.

Hope everyone is doing well. Best wishes to all. So happy the holiday season is coming. Food is the last thing on my mind this year!!!! Its spending time with the little ones I am excited for! I cant wait to decorate for Christmas this year, to have them and the new house all this year to play with.

OK I'm babbling on, sorry. Take care all

You are NOT babbling.. you are sharing! We love the sharing here!

To answer your question... Most people I know are ok with the tomato and acidic products, and if they do get irritation from them, a daily acid reducer will take care of that...so no worries there.
NOW the fat part... they can be very hard to tolorate (especially meat fats) after this procedure. BUT if we are being honest here, we (as WLS patients) should be avoiding most of these fats anyhow.  Many who have their galbladder out can still tolorate the healthy fats in small amounts without difficulty. You will have to see how your body responds.
I do recommend having the generic of prilosec on hand and taking one each day so you can still enjoy the more acidic foods you enjoy, without difficulty.

Your recovery will be faster and easier than the WLS, but you must still be gentle with yourself as you heal. Don't want to damage anything as it gheals, nor any hernias. Just listen to your body. It will know best.

Hope this helps.
Hugs to you!
Ohhhhh and you are kicking butt on the weight reduction!!! WOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Hi Miss, your gallbladder is simply a pouch to store the bile until needed for digestion.  Without the gallbladder, the bile simply goes into your gut as it is produced.  Some of the pain related to gallbladder attacks is the cramping of the gallbladder to empty the bile when needed for fat digestion.

I had my gallbladder removed many years ago, lap procedure.  The recovery was very simple, just a couple of days off from work, lifting limits for a bit during healing.  Hernia prevention.

I found that I tolerated foods easier after gallbladder surgery, love tomato products and tomatoes.  I think you will feel so much better when the surgery is complete and you are healed.
