Hello Everyone,

My name is Patrice but everyone calls me Treesie.  I see the group leaders name is Patrece as well.    I am new to the site and also new to my RNY.  I just had the surgery on Monday, October 18th and this is a huge adjustment.  I knew it would be and I welcome it.  I heard about this site from my surgeons office as well as a nurse at my pcp office.  She also has had the surgery.  I'm from Pittsburgh, Pa and married.  My husband is very supportive and is a big help.  My sons 22 and 20 wasn't really excited about the surgery because they have heard bad things about the surgery.  I advised them that as long as I follow the rules I will be fine.  My husband has been at every appointment with me so he knows what I have to do to stay healthy.

I look forward to discussions with everyone and meeting new people that know exactly what I am going through.  Please, give me some advise and pointers.  I would love that.

Well, nice meeting you all.  And I am very excited to sharing stories and meeting new people.  I have seen some of the before and after pics and everyone looks awesome.  I look forward to being a pic on the before and after. lol.

Hey Patrice! Patrece here to welcome you to our group!
One of the best things you can do is read through many of the older topics. There you will learn a wealth of information! Ask any questions and share any concerns you may have. Someone or many will chime in to help out. Be sure to get in your water, protein, lots of little walks and rest as your body requests it as you are healing. Be sure not to eat until you feel FULL. Just satisfied. At first this will be a very tiny amount (1 oz or so). Sometimes i couldn't even eat that much in the beginning.

Be sure to begin to replace old habits with new healthy ones for a lifestyle that will help ensure long term success in your wls. It seems very magical early out, but later.. it will come back to bite you in the behind if you do not develop new food and activity habits.

Welcome to our group and to the losers bench! Hope you can join us on our monday evening chat. A reminder with a link is sent out each monday.

Hi Treesie!

I too have a few family members/friends who are very worried about me getting weight loss surgery.  It's nice that they are worried and all, but you made the informed decision after lots of careful thought.  This isn't something people just jump into.  I'm sure they will all come around when they see how much healthier and happier you are.

Welcome to the group, Treesie!

I've read your posts and really don't have words of wisdom for you. I just want to say hello and welcome.  This really a great group of people here and when it comes to support they are the best!  I don't know where I would be without these guys.

I'm glad you found us

Hello Treesie

Welcome to our family!   I recently had the surgery as well, I had my RNY on 10/6 and it has been been going very well for me since i had my surgery.  I have been following the instructions from the surgeons office and using common sence as well.  Remember that a happy pouch means a littler and healther you and me as well.  I was  wondering from someone else who also had the surgery, have you had much pain with your surgery.  Because i have hardly had any pain at all .. so I am not sure whether i just have a high tolerance level or just a very very good surgeon.  But i am pretty sure its the very good surgeon part.  LOL I am a wimp when it comes to other pain.  It is good that you have a good support network in your husband as they will be with you thru your transformation.
Best of Luck on your Journey to a healthier you.

Be blessed,
Jenn

      WELCOME

Hi Treesie, congrats on the Surgery, your not too far from me.. an seems we have same office.. :) This group is the best.... I enjoy being on OH site alot I got lost a few times when I first joined, so much information and so much to check out. I learned so much here, and talking to everyone who has experienced this first hand is better than reading something off the internet or a book.. which I happen to have read many LOL..

My husband has been to every appt with me too, and is doing a wonderful job at supporting me. It really helps when having somebody close support you. My mother isnt so supportive.. another story.. but if you look at past psst and my page you will see I am having my surgery this tues at Magee's Hospital. Im nervous, but ready.

I can not wait to see pics of your journey, I know you will be successful, and your boys will have a change of heart once they see the happier new you !.. Good luck on everything :)

Wow, that is so exciting.  I will be saying a prayer for you.  Magee was wonderful.  It is a nervous feeling but very exciting.  It was so surreal, it took so long to get there and when it's final here it's just amazing.  It's an amazing gift-like opening a gift at Christmas time.

I agree that it is nice to talk with people that are in the same boat.  I've been getting nervous about eating things that I'm allowed to have now.  You know, I just don't want to make a mistake.  My husband just wants me to calm down and take my time.  I get all worked up.lol!  You know men don't think like we do.  I'm so glad that I joined the group.  I feel that I will make some great friends here.  Those before and after pics are so awesome.  But I'm still in the stage where I don't think I will lose that much weight. I can't wait to see it.  We will be on the same schedule with losing!!!!!!

Good luck on Tuesday!!!!!  Can't wait to hear from you about your experience.  The nurses are great!!!  Take care.
