Protein, Vitamins OPINIONS?

Jeanine J.

I am stepping ever so close to having surgery and I was wondering about a few things.
What type of protein drinks do you use/like? Flavors?
What type of Vitamins do you use? Do you use regular or the ones for WLS patients?
Did you get "free" samples of protein? If so, how did you do that? did you just email or call?

Thanks in advance!

I went into GNC, asked where the samples where.. and online, there is a link that may not always say samples, but more like single servings..  I sampled vanilla flavors, and choc. I was not interested in much more, oh and unflavored, as it can be put in anything. I read from others about adding things to vanilla and making it taste better, I love coffee, got instant and added it in, oh and I added a lil more splenda too..lol.. I know from reading taste buds will change after surgery.. more say than not..so I will stick with unflavored and vanilla since it is adjustable.. I am also going to try the juice shots.. can get them at GNC and online.. everyone raves about online site and I may try it.  Oh and the samples are not free,, a few bucks for each one.. wish they was free.. LOL
I also just posted what I bought for vitamins, I started out with liquid.. and regular.. nothing special unless my Dr says so.. I got Iron, multivitamins, biotin and getting calcium.. you will read from many that you are not to take iron and calcium together, they cancel each other out.. so take one at night and one in morning.. or 12 hrs apart.. I am interested in a pill for protien, after 2 weeks, I may try it if DR approves.

Ask away at any question, Patrece is very helpful and so is everyone here pre op or post op..

Good luck!

I got so many different protein powders from everywhere and ended up throwing them away because I did not like the taste of them.  I ended up using Unjury because there are no sugars at all in the powder which is great.  I was drinking allot of milk but the calories and the sugars were too high.  I hope you find something you like.  You will be using them forever so find one you like.
Good Luck

I like and use unjury vanilla, plain and chicken flavored. It is high quality and highly absorbable by us. They offer sample packs you can purchase but not free, but unjury is an excellent protein to use. (medicinal quality).

I have tried and tasted a gazzilion vitamins and my favorite is www.bbvitamins.com they are the most complete vitamins for bariatric patients, not as expensive as many bariatric vitamins, and I love the taste of the chewables...they are like my candy..lol They will send free samples if you ask them via the contact link on the site.

not many free samples out there for protein, but a few. Google it and see what you come up with. I don't know who offersit and who does not and even if they do not say theyoffer it, ask...worst they can do is say no right?

Best of luck!

I'm not in a financial position to just buy tons of protein.  People say that sometimes your taste buds are different post-surgery.  I know that I'd rather not waste money in any way.  So what I have is a large bottle of EAS that I got at Walmart for 12 dollars and have almost finished drinking.  It's chocolate flavored, a flavor I can live with for now.  If my taste changes post -surgery I will start exploring other brands by getting samples or small bottles.

Jodie I have to try that trick of yours.  =)
