Good Sunday afternoon!

Happy Sunday everyone!

Just got home from church and the grocery store.  Hubby is cooking dinner tonight; he's making a shrimp, scallop, and clam chowder.  Not sure if he can pull it off or not but if he does I can't wait to have some.

I'm starting to get a little anxious about my surgery tomorrow.  I'm a little surprised that they do this as an out patient procedure.  But I'm trying to be upbeat and looking forward to shopping.  Once the hernia is taken care of, I'm going to need clothes.  I also am making a promise to myself to faithfully wear the binder they are going to put me in for as long as I am supposed to.  I quit wearing mine about 3 weeks after the WLSsurgery and I think that was a factor in developing the hernia.

I'm not sure what to make of this information but I ran into a former supervisor I used to work with at Walmart.  She insisted that a hernia adds weight.  I don't see how that can be possible; they aren't removing anything.  Has anybody else ever heard of that?  I have been on a plateau for about 3 weeks and want so desperately to believe that having this thing fixed is going to make a difference on the scale but I doubt it.

We are going organic here at home and I've started the process of replacing things a little at a time.  They are having a food drive at church next week so I'm going to clear out quite a bit of canned goods.  I love guacamole and am making homemade with organic avocado, tomato, onion, cumin, garlic, salt and pepper.  It's terrific stuff even if the fat content is a little high it is very healthy.  So far, I haven't bought anything that was horrible; it all tastes good.  We use 2% milk here and the organic version is a little expensive but it tastes as rich as whole milk which I love.  If anybody has a Trader Joe's by them they have a great organic/all natural inventory and they are not that expensive.

Well that's it for me for now.  I'm going to try and get a little housework done.  I'll be out of commission for a few weeks and I have to be at the hospital at 5:30AM.

Have  a great day all!

Best of luck with your surgery in the moring Colleen. The hernia will make you feel a little larger, but they are just fixing the muscle defect, not removing anything. Yes they are an outpatient procedure. If you are not up to heading home after the recovery, they can reassess. You will do splendidly. Hugs

By now you have had your surgery, and I hope all is going great for you! You will be swollen and tender for a while, but the swelling will reduce as you heal. It shouldn't cause any weight gain. Many times after surgery we will lose a little weight, as the body typically requires about 3 to 4 thousand calories a day during the healing time, which as a bariatric patient you could NEVER eat, so it will turn to fat for those calorie needs.

Please let us know how you are as soon as you are up to it. I hope all went perfectly!
Hugs!
