Hi Everyone!!
Hello,
hope this finds everyone doing well. I got the staples from my RNY removed yesterday and things are doing well with my recovery from the surgery going quite well, They upped me to the pureed food stage and it was quite enjoyable to have cooked egg especially since my son has recently started making his own eggs in the microwave. I still can't believe how good i feel. I didn't have to have much pain medication while i was in the hospital and although i did fill the vicodin they sent me home with i only took one tab on the 1st night home.
I weighed myself the day i went in to the hospital i was 265 and when i weighed myself this morning i was 252. YaY !! 13 pounds in 9 days .. didn't think it was possible but .. there ya go.
Have a Blessed Day!!

Hello Everyone,
First off Way To Go Jenn on your weight loss!! Sounds like you are doing really well. I have a question though, mostly about the pain. I know everyone is different but the people I have talked to acted like they were gonna die. They say the pain was so bad that they cried but when it comes to going home time, I was wondering when you felt human again. I have watched a lot of youtube and it seems like most people within the 2nd or 3rd day of being home start feeling better. Do you have any info/advice about those first couple of days home that might make things a little easier.
Thanks

everyone is different when it comes to pain tolerances, I had my son via emergency c-section, so if you have had that done the pain with regards to a laproscopic RnY is not as bad. I really didn't have that much pain because they don't damage as many large muscles when things are done laproscopically. I had 2 doses of morphine the day of the surgery, didn't ask for anything thruout that night (they will be in your room every hour thruout the night) then the next day i had 1 dose of morphine. After that they did the test for the stability of the new pouch. Which consisted of them emptying the drain pouch they put in. Then i drank this blue stuff and they came back about 1/2 hour later and checked the drain pouch to see if the blue showed up in the drain pouch. Then that night they let me have something to eat, which consists of a sugarfree pudding and a 4 oz of cristal lite. After that they let me have vicodin. I had one that night and then one the next morning for the ride home,
Hope this Helps.
Be Blessed

With the laproscopic procedures the pain shouldn't be so bad it brings one to tears, unless they have a very low pain threashold. Yes there is pain, but After the first day of my surgery, it was very tolorable. the hardest part for me was trying to sit up from laying down, or lay down from stting.
Have lots of pillow at home to help with repositioning, as my first several days, I couldn't lay on my sides and needed the pillows to help change pressure points. I believe having these pillows available was one of the bst things I did for myself, as my butt was really getting sore laying on my back fo so many days in a row.
Take lots of little walks too, to help move out the air from your abdominal cavity. I think after the first 2 days, the pressure from this air was my worst discomfort. Walking helps move it out more quickly.
