Welcome to our group Kassie! You came to the right place for Buddies!

The process varies from insurance company to insurance company, so it is hard for me to give you tmelines, but many require a 6 month dr supervised weight loss program or diet, with very specific charting on certain aspects of it. Then when that is done, insurance will typically make thier decsion, and also usually require a letter of necesity from either your doctor or the surgeon.  You surgeons office has delath with many insurance comanies, that is probably the best place to ask this question, they will know what your insurance typically requires. Usually surgery can be done within a 8 month to a year of when you begin the process, if you have to do the 6 month supervised diet. BUT again, this can vary.

Read the posrts made here and you will get a great understanding of what to expect post-op. meanwhile ask any questions you may have. Someone will answer them for you, the best they can.

Again welcome!

Welcome to the group Kassie, you will find buddies here.  Patrece already gave my version of the time line.  It varies, depending on your insurance and surgeon.

Do what you can as you go through this process to start the new habits that will follow you through your life.  Stop smoking if you do, reduce or stop soda pop and caffiene.  Start a walking program and do any exercises you can.

Come post any questions and you will get several ideas.  Some days the group is quieter than others.  The more you post, the more you will learn.  Stop by monday eve chat sessions for group caring and sharing.  I send out a reminder each monday with a shortcut to the chat area.

Looking forward to sharing this adventure with you.  Hugs
