Hi yall

i am new to this site as well to this grp. My name is Yessenia, but everyone calls me Yessie. Currently my BMI is.... 49.3 I think! I couldn't even type it.. I am 5'3 and 37 yrs of age. I have a wonderful husband who is supportive all the way, and a 6 yr old son who well is the other love of my life. I came across this site about a week ago. I am not sure how I found it, but I am glad I found it.
Well same here with the same yo-yo diets, diet after diet failure, you loose it then it comes back and does it ever with a BANG! During my childhood years I was always chunky and was teased alot in Elementary and on. I want to empark this journey as a life changing experience, and I know that with your help, and determination I will win this battle!

This upcoming Friday, I have my first Consultation with Dr. Pomp, @ Cornell Medical Center, I am scared and excited all at the same time. I hope i ask the right questions, I don't want to sound stupid. So there is my first mini step to a new me!

Thank you all for reading this...

Take care

Yessie

Welcome to our group Yessenia! What a beautiful name.
Glad to see you posting and introduing yourself to the group. Weekends are slow for replies many times, but I am sure others will be along to welcome you.
Best of luck at your upcoming appointment. Let us know how it goes for you. Trust m when i say, there is nothing you can ask your surgeon that will make you sound stupid. They have heard it all, and I think really respect those who ask questions and are as well informed as possible.

Congrats on your first mini step to the new you! again welcome! Watch tomorrow for the chat reminder Kathy will send out.

Welcome to the family Yessie, pretty name.

Write down any and all questions for the surgeon.  They like informed people and will answer questions.  I work in health care and tell my patients that the only dumb questions are the ones that you fail to ask.  The staff does not read minds and welcomes questions.

Congratulations on making this first step for your health.  I found the OH site on a list of suggested support groups from my surgeon's office.  I found the site so helpful that I went through the leader training and, tadaa, here I am.  Sharing and caring with lots of members going through the same things.

Please feel free to bounce any ideas off the group.  We enjoy sharing our experiences with others.  Chat is this evening.  Check the reminder post.  Looking forward to getting to know you better.  Hugs

Hi Yessie,
Congrats on taking your first steps to the new you. I just had my consoltation on the 24th and it was so exciting and I left there with a surgery date. Ask all the questions you can think of, the more informed you are the better. Patrece and Kathy are right when they say doctors have heard it all.lol. Welcome to the group. This has been a wonderful place and everyone has made me feel so welcome here. I hope to talk to you soon.

Hi Yessie! I  am new, too, and I can feel a lot of similarities in your story! My name is Elizabeth (or Liz), I am 36 and I have my consultation on Thursday!

Don't worry about sounding stupid at your consultation--the appointment is to learn about the procedure & the lifestyle---everyone is right saying that the docs have heard it all before.  Besides, if you have joined this site, you are doing your homework & not going into this blindly!

The end of this week will be the first steps to a 'new us'!
