I know too damn much about medicine and I keep thinking about the 'what-ifs'....of the surgery. But, I'm trying really hard to surround myself with positive energies and people and positive thoughts. I know that having a positive attitude can play a BIG role in the recovery process. Well..the whole process. Speaking of which, I need to trust the process. I think about how I'm putting my life in my Dr's hands. I need to trust him and the process. I did have an Annointing last nite by my priest. That's always a good thing to do ;-)
Well...thanks for checking in on us ;-)

I too had to much knowledge...which really isn't always a good thing. Us nurses are always trying to assess, diagnose and have far too much info and often get ourselvs way too worked up. It is time for you to relax a bit and be the patient. If you do not have total trust in your surgeon.. better find another... I am sure you do, nerves just interfere sometimes.
The what if's can happen, but in most cases will not. If they do, that is when you deal with them. But you are right, you must go into this with positive vibes and thoughts. Allow yourself to embrace this new beginning and don't ruin it by stressing too much right now. Fear is not real. It is the idea of what might be. Until what might be IS, there isn't a reason to get too worked up. Acknowledge the possibilities, have a plan for those you feel you need one for, then dismiss it until there is reason to worry further. IF you can. This is what I did and it worked great for me. When I started to fear or worry or get nervous, I asked myself, what is feeling this way accomplishing for me? The answer came back... not one positive thing at all. And I set the fear aside.
The biggy... Have faith in your Surgeon, your Lord and yourself.
And yes, they will check your baseline nutritional levels when they do your pre-op blood work.At least , this is the norm for most pre-op blood workups. Glad you and your husband are getting you prepared. it is good to have it ready ahead of time. Makes things easier fo the first week or 2 home, when you will ave a million changes to adjust to.
Keeping you in my heart thoughts and prayers for a smooth as silk surgery and recovery! Thanks for touching base and letting me know where things are with you!
Hugs to you!

Dad was rushed to the ER last night with chest pain. Doesn't appear that he had a heart attack, but they are still working him up. He moved out of the tele floor to a regular floor. I've been obviously calling him at the wrong times. Haven't been able to talk to him.
Took fiance to the ER for jaw pain and headache. Possible abscessed tooth. He was triaged and taken to a room. He did not have anyone check on him for over 4 hours and that was only after I asked to speak to the nursing supervisor. A dr and the charge nurse came in then. I asked the dr why he wasn't going to order lab work to check his WBC. Fiance is diabetic. Dr said oh he doesn't have an abscess, but here's a prescription for PCN. His BP was also high when he was triaged. Nobody rechecked it at all. I cannot wait to get the bill. Cause I want to see them charge us for the room and care, which he only got 15 minutes of it. As a nurse, I was totally fuming. I plan to discuss this with someone when I call the hospital tomorrow. I am also going to write a letter to the ED manager as well.
Rant over.... I'm good now. You did ask for it though... LOL... Heading to bed. Have a good night
Glad all is going well in the wls process for you! Good for you getting prepared for the awesome journey ahead of you.
I hope all turns out to be well with your father. Please keep us posted! Will keep him in my prayers for sure!
What a terrible service the ER provided to your fiance! Glad you are going to make the hospital aware of the poor service. They think if you are not actively dying you aren't important it seems sometimes. I wonder if your Fiance is suffering from TMJ? The jaw and head pain may point to that. I was talking to my dentist one day And he was telling me that many people go undiagnosed with this and it is very painful. The cause of it is that the teeth are not in proper alignmnet and so the muscles over work trying to get the teeth to make contact and actually get things more out of alignment, and the tension created reults in jaw and head pain. NOW I am not a dentist and canno diagnose, ut worth looking into. Hope he gets relief soon!
Don't be a stranger lady!
December will be here before you know it... then surgery!

On a personal note, working on getting the building permit for the new garage. Got the variance form signed by my neighbor over the weekend. Planning to take the permit packet to the city in the am. Got a bid for the concrete work and waiting on the bid for the building and materials. I am getting excited about having my space for my craft studio on the upper level of the garage. Dennis is looking forward to having more of the basement for his hobby. Let's see who is happier with the new arrangement. I think it will be a tie. I transplanted parts of my hasta and daylilly that I want to save. Amazing how many parts you can split a large plant into. Giving some away to the neighbor who want some too.
Chat in a few hours. Looking forward to a record turnout again. Let's see what happens. Hugs
