.................but it not til Jan 3.  I will be on clear liquids for Christmas.  Yeah for me.  I am a little annoyed that I have to wait this long, but I guess in the long run it really hasn't been that long since I started this journey.  So I am gonna be ok with it.  By the time that I have the surgery it will only have been 5 months waiting.  Not too bad.  I am just so psyched to have a date.  Guess it wont be such a bad way to start the New Year!  2011 here I come!

Are you kidding? It is an absolutely awesome way to kick off the new year and the new you and the rest of your life! Congrats on getting a date! I waited 8 months and many have waited longer.. so you are right..its not so bad. I do understand tho that once you get the go, you wanna do it yesterday!

Words of wisdom... take advantage of this time to ask lots of questions, do lots of learning and begin to change your emotional relationship with food and exercise. it will serve you very well to do so.

Congrats... the time will pass faster than you think!
Hugs!

Hi. Welcome to to the BB group.  I love it here.  There are alot of great people.  SO ask away all the questions.

I am from Philadelphia.  My surgeon isDr.Tichansky. Couple of co-workers went to him and had great success.  Its also my sister hospital where I will be having it done.  So the expenses wont be as bad for out of pocket.  But he has a good reputation from what I have heard.

Well i do get to enjoy Thanskgiving dinner.  SO it will be my last traditional holiday where I will be celebrating with FOOD. Christmas I will be on clear liquid diet.  2 weeks b4 and 2 weeks after.  A whole month on nothing but liquids.. hmm I wonder how cranky I am gonna be.

I am doing well since my surgery. I am down 19 pounds since the 7th of Sept. (my surgery date).

What has been a struggle for me is I was hungry at the begginning. I'm having better luck with this now.  I've also craved sugar like a mad woman and going into the store to purchase something and seeing everything you can't have felt like torture because I was craving sugar so badly.  For me this really hasn't passed. I'm still craving it.

I had a hard time finding a protein shake I could tolerate. I ended up purchasing Atkins mocha latte shakes from walmart. They are not awesome but I'm able to choke it down much better than anything else and the smell doesn't make me want to vomit.

It's extremely important that you have a good support system. If it wasn't for my husband and great friends being supportive during this time I dont' think I would have done so well up to this point. This group has also been a great tool in the journey. The people here are awesome!

I wont be venturing into any stores that have food for awhile after my surgery.  Fiance gets to do the shopping or just order takeout for him.  He practically lives on sandwiches now anyways.  The only reason he really cooked was for me.  Not sure what he will do when he cant cook for me for a whole month.  Maybe I will let him make me a big pot of chicken/vegetable soup.  I will only have the broth though.

He will be a great support person for me as well.  He just informed me that he will make sure I get my walking in.  I can also see him telling me to go up the stairs and  take my pain meds and a nap.  Bossy, but all with good intentions.

Gonna get my cabinets cleaned out and organized tomorrow or wend.  Just so I can make a place that's easy for me to get to my stuff.  Will also have a place for him to hide his stuff.  Out-of-sight,     out-of-mind.  Well at least that is the plan.  I am gonna have a few different types of protein supplements.  I really like this one called proti-concentrate.  You mix it with water and it doesn't taste too bad.  Has 15g of protein.  I mix it with more water than they call for.

I have to mix FF milk with my protein powders.  Cant stand them in water.

Congrats on your weight loss.  I am so glad that you are doing well.  So glad that DH was there for you to help your recovery!!!!  Can't wait to get on the losers bench with ya.

Fran this will be the best holiday season for you.  Celebrate the new life you are starting.  Congrats on getting a surgery date.  The last few weeks fly by (words of experience).  The liquid diet even didn't seem that bad, boring indeed, but not that bad.  Hang in there Fran, your date is coming.  Hugs
