8 days out!
Just wanted to take a minute to introduce myself. I'm a newbie to this group and am 8 days out from my surgery!
I'm 31 and a newlywed, our 1st anniversary is in a couple of weeks. My husband is also planning on having RNY in November. My insurance required that he be covered for 1 year.
So far so good with my recovery. Pain hasn't been too bad. I haven't been sick and have been able to get all of my liquids in. I feel weird saying this but I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong cause it seems like it shouldn't be this easy. I have no problem eating and I have eaten up to 8oz of liquid and 6 oz of "food".
I have my first support group meeting tomorrow night and I'm looking forward to that.
I was wondering how long the bandages are supposed to stay on your incisions. I took the bandaids off the day after I got home, but I have the strips still on. All I have heard is that I'm supposed to leave them alone until they fall off.

Hello and welcome to our group!
Congrats on your recent surgery and having it all go so smoothly. The steri strips usually fall off between 10 and 14 days. They are supposed to stay on until they fall off.
I hope you enjoy your support group meeting!
I am not sure what eating plan your sureon has you following at tis point as far as "food" goes. Is it liquids? puree? soft? Typically at this point you should only be able to "eat 1 to 2 oz in a sitting for a meal. When you tell me you are able to "eat up to 6 oz of food" I must say this concerns me. 6 oz shouldn't come until 6 to 9 months out from surgery. If you are taking in liquid food over a long period of time, this makes a bit more sense, but should be smaller amounts.
Did your surgeon or nutritionist give you guidelines to follow as far as measuring and how much you should consume at each meal?
Again welcome to our group. Looking forward to traveling this journey with you.
