Bad breath

I've had this horrible bad breath since surgery. Is this normal? Is there anything I can do about it other than brush my teeth and tongue all the time? My dr. said no gum or hard candy. I don't want gag people when I talk to them.

i had the same thing happen.  i didn't know if it was a new cream i was using or what -- but someone thought that my body was going through ketosis -- and that was what was smelling.  i'm 6 weeks out now -- and all is fine.  and i changed cream, just in case.  ; )

I am having the same problem, but I am just in my 2 week pre-op liquid diet! My husband has been trying to be nice about it and googled it (he is a self proclaimed computer geek - if only he had invented google!). What he found is that it has to do with the high protein I am taking in and the best solution is to drink more water to flu**** out through the kidneys. Don't know how I could possibly drink more than I am! I have been brushing my teeth 5-6 times a day and that isn't doing the trick! :)

Ketosis for sure! I experienced this too. You can use a spray type breath freshner and that may help. I hated the funky taste and smell that came with the ketosis, but that means fat burning galore.. so, I always took it as a good sign when that was present.
