Clear protein supplement?
Can anyone recommend a source of "clear" protein that they used either pre-op or post-op? I will need to be on clear liquids for the day before surgery and a few days after. I think everything on the list provided by the doctor did not contain any protein in it, just stated "clear protein."
Also, what is/was your favorite protein supplement? Thanks for your help!

Funny, I am new to this group and just was researching supplements...I found a supplement at GNC called Isopure, they have them available w/o sugar...the only problem is they are 20 oz! So it might take a while to drink it...but still-each bottle has 40g protein. Good luck!
clear liquids, for my doctors, the day before pre-op was broth, water. apple juice. sf jello
post op for the 2nd day (1st day we are not allowed to eat or drink) was water.
3rd or 4th day, introduce broth and back to sf jello and of course water.
no protein drinks until i got home....i tried muscle milk chocolate, but i got sick of it after awhile, so i got some isospure vanilla, unjury things, etc. it mixes things up so you don't get so sick of the same thing over and over again during the liquid stage...

Thanks for your post! My doc said the same things except the "clear protein supplement" which I think might be a myth. Ooooh broth, water, juice and jello, YUMMMMMYYY!! LOL Guess I'm wishful thinking that there's something out there a little more significant on the clear liquid stage, huh?
So would you say Isopure and Unjury are your favorite protein drinks?

truthfully, i like the ispoure -- not for the taste per se -- but for the amount of protein it packs into a 12ounce liquid -- 50. add some milk or greek yogurt -- and we're at goal for my protein for the day. it makes it much easier...

My surgical team had us drinking the carnation instant breakfast for our pre op and post op diets. Liquids are more important than protein for the first few days. Do your best to follow the plan set out by your surgeon. Each surgeon has a different plan, that they believe in. Work with the program, sip, sip, proteins and short walks with rest. Hugs
