food intake 9 weeks post op
Hello all.
I know it's been a while since I've posted.
It's been 9 weeks since my lap band surgery and I am down 40 pounds and feel wonderful.
I have been cleared to go back to the gym, and I have even started jogging.
My mornings start out the same, and I'm okay through lunch time but come the afternoon I get so hungry and I can't seem to control it.
I had a couple of ounces of cottage cheese for lunch and then by 2:00 I was hungry again. 4:00 I was hungry again and then 7:00 I had a bit more to eat. I dread the afternoons.
I am really worried about stretching my pouch out.
I have had my first fill about 2 weeks ago, and I didn't think I would be this hungry after that.
Is this normal, or should I not give in to those hunger pangs?
Thanks.

You may need a bit more of a fill. Call your doc. Usually this hunger you are having can be an indication of needing a fill.
Meanwhile, if you are certain it is true hunger pangs, just eat a very small amount of something high in protein. If yu are allowed solid foods, try chicken or another dense protein that will stay with you longer. just be sur not to exceed the serving size recommended.
Keep us posted. Great weight loss! Keep up the good work!

Lost 114 lbs. working on getting rid of a recent 10 lb regain...and WILL succeed!
Great job after only 9 weeks!! I have a girlfriend at work that had her surgery a week after you and she's only lost 12 lbs. so far!!
Based on what my friend's doing at 9 weeks post-op, you should be able to eat solid lean protein by now and I'd try chicken, turkey, even lean pork chop over the cottage cheese and hopefully that will keep you satiated longer. HUGS!!

Finding the proper fill for each person is individual and may take several small fills to get the right amount of restriction. You are doing wonderful in the meantime. Distraction when hunger rears it's ugly head. Fill up on fluids will help a bit. Hope that your next fill gets you to the right place. Keep up the exercise and portion control. Hugs
Thank you all - well it does seem like the doc wants to adjust my fill. I go in Thursday. He's doing the fill at the hospital under x-ray, and then I have to drink the Barium liquid.
I just knew this wasn't normal to be this hungry in the afternoons. I was really getting worried because I was eating way to much.
I have also been working out almost every day and I do weights twice a week and I started jogging with my dog. I also drink plenty of fluids, so I know I'm not dehydrated. My protein is right where it should be, so I'm working really hard.
I'm looking forward to this journey, but I gotta get that scale to move.
