Psyched!!!!

My brain is on overdrive, which I can only assume is normal.  I do not feel nervous or anxious about the actual surgery at all.  I just feel nervous about how I will react once a big chunk of this weight is off.  I am sure I will feel great physically and maybe even some emotionally. I am worried that as I shed this weight (my protection),  that past demons may come back to haunt me.  Passed my psych eval today.  YEAH.

I am so PSYCHED.  Cardiologist appt Thur.  Then I am done with the pre-screening.  Then I wait for the insurance approval.  Not sure how long that will take. I am not so good at this waiting game though.I   was hoping to have this done in NOV. Maybe I can get it a little sooner than that.  All I have to do is give my work 30 days notice for the FMLA.

Woooooo hooooooooo so happy for you. Soon this hoop jumping will be but a distant memory.

There will absolutely be demons to face... we all have them. Ones we should have faced long ago. I know that for me, as I lost weight, got healthier, and learned to take better care of myself, I had more strength and confidence to face those demons with. I think you may too. Not easy...but a must do to really grow and heal in our lives and in becoming who we have always been meant to be.
Remember we are here to help you through it all. Hugs!!!

I know that it will soon be worth having to jump through all them hoops.  So far everything has come back ok too.  Lab work was off just a little.  Now keep fingers crossed that the cardiologists appt goes as well.

I'm mentally preparing to deal with the emotional aspect as well. The not knowing is whats killing me here. LoL. Oh well, I guess we spend most of our life not really knowing what tomorrow will bring. SO I guess I will just wing i, so to speak. I am thinking  of getting a self-help book for dealing with emotional eating.

Have you any ideas of resources that might be beneficial.  Seeing as I am gonna be out of work 4-6 weeks, I will need some thing to occupy my time.

There's a really good book Kathy told me about that I order. I am not through reading it yet, but seems great and comes with a CD too.. it is called mindful eating By Jan Chozen Bays. It is not specific to wls, but has some excellent info in it.  Hope this helps.

Lucky you that you get 4-6 weeks off!!  I get 1 week off -- just don't have very much PTO because other things happened throughout the year.  Of course, I could take the time off without pay, but we couldn't bear that financially.  :(

I hope that your wait time flies by.  If you're looking for a good resource for emotional eating, you might try to go to an Overeaters Anonymous meeting if one exists in your area.  They have a book and it's a great source of support.

HUGS!
All the best,

I have enough PTO/sick time to use for a  little over 3 weeks. Lucky, I have AFLAC and they will pay me 80% of my salary.  I am not exactly sure how it works.  I will have to call someone.  But it will have to wait til next week.  My MD already said that he wont let me go back b4 four weeks. 10# lifting restriction, no bending/twisting..etc.etc.  As a nurse, all this is hard to avoid.

I will check out the Overeaters Anonymous meeting
Thank you

I have AFLAC too but I thought it was for accidents only.  I will have to call my agent and find out if I can use it for surgery recovery ... I hadn't thought of that!

It's understandable that as a nurse you wouldn't be able to do parts of your job for several weeks after surgery -- I have a desk job so it shouldn't be a big deal for me to go back to work a lot sooner.  Bummer for me!!  LOL

All the best,

Great to have one more of the hoops completed. The rest will fly by and I anticipate that before long, you will be posting your surgery date. Work on the demons, they pop up their heads from time to time. Hugs

Congrats on that. I understand the waiting is just aweful. But All good things take time. Once you get everything done it shouldn't take that long to find out if you were approved.
