Good Morning everyone!  My name is Jennifer and I am new to this group.  I had my RNY surgery on February 3rd of 2010, and I have really enjoying life these days.  This summer I have gone hiking, swimming, and I bought a bathing suit!  I have, for the first time in 10 years, truly ENJOYED my summer.  I think this surgery was the best decision I have ever, ever made for ME!  I am a better, active mom and I can enjoy the time I have with my children.  I feel better, I look better, and regular sized clothes are so much cheaper than Plus sized clothes.  I look forward to meeting new people and learning from all of you.  We are all in this together...despite what some may think, this surgery is a tool, not the easy way out...the learning continues for life!!  I am looking forward to hearing your advice and stories about your journies!!!

Welcome to our group Jennifer! Congrats on your wls and embracing the post op wls life! It is amazing the things that open up to us once we lose some of the excess weight, feel better and can move!

I had RNY 7/21/08. Was 270 lbs, in a tight 24 pant and a 2 to 3 X shirt. I am now 151, hit a normal BMI at 154..yeayyyyyy...in a size 8 pant and med top. I can run and play with my grandchildren and LOVE it! I can talk and breathe at the same time... power walk... hike, so many things! AND I can easily reach to wipe my own behind..lol. My health issues have subsided and I will never regret my decision to have wls. I try hard each day to respect my tool and to use it as it was intended to be used. At this point, I could easily begin to regain, if I do not stay mindful. For me.. this is not an option!

Looking forward to getting to know you more and traveling this journey with you!

Welcome Jennifer, you are right WLS is a tool not the "magic" some people think. It does take work and dedication to succeed. I am so glad you enjoyed your summer doing all the fun things with your kids...they will reap the benefits from your decisions for many years to come.

Welcome to the family Jennifer.  Congrats on your new life.  Enjoy it to the fullest.

I had my RNY sept of last year, coming up on a year already and I am still learning the ins and outs of my pouch.  This is not easy, a day to day, hour by hour choices.  I am so glad that I had the surgery, life is easier almost a hundred pounds lighter.  My knees are thankful.

I look forward to coming here to bariatric buddy group, nearly everyday, sometimes several times a day to catch up on everyone who posts.

I am trying to get my hubby off chips, getting him healthier choices to have in the house.  Gotta share this one.  I bought a bag of baked pita chips.  He tried them, even put a serving into a bowl and put the bag away.  After he finished, he said, "not bad, but they didn't have much pizza flavor".  I think he sat the 'p' in the beginnina of the word, and the 'a' at the end and filled in his own rest of the word.  Got the bag out to show him the real word.  Then had to explain what pita bread was, he had never tried or even heard of pita.  Gotta love him.

Let's walk this weight loss adventure together, sharing stories and ideas.  Hugs
