Bariatric Buddy
Introduction
I live in MN, neighbors. lol I am north of Duluth, about 100 miles from Canada. Guess we are not right next door, but that doesn't matter, we are just a click away online. Any questions, issues, things you just want to know about before surgery, ask away. I like to share with others and see paying it forward as part of my support. Come post and reply to posts often. Chat sessions are monday evening, reminders come out on mondays. Chat is a good place to ask and get lots of opinions on issues. Topics vary, depending on the needs and questions of those present for chat.
Lets lose together. Hugs

Lost 114 lbs. working on getting rid of a recent 10 lb regain...and WILL succeed!
My surgery was scheduled at a bad time, right after the school year started. I was hoping to get in before school to avoid missing classes and my internship. I will best to stay on track.
Can anyone tell me about how long you were off of work? I have a pretty physically demanding job and I can only go back to work if I'm able to go back without restrictions.
Welcome to Bariatric Buddies!
Congratulations on setting your surgery date! I know how difficult it is to keep trudging forward as obstacles keep popping up. Perserverance pays off!
My RNY + gallbladder removal surgery was open and, even though my job is not physically demanding whatsoever, I was off work for 6 weeks. The recovery process was so much more than just healing from the surgical procedure itself - adapting to my new diet and getting my energy level up were HUGE parts.
I am almost one year out from my surgery. I have been struggling for various reasons over the last few months, BUT I am down 124 lbs from my heaviest weight AND I would do it all over again. It has been SO worth it!!
The people that manage and participate in this support group are awesome! Come here often to ask questions, celebrate successes, let off steam - whatever you need and whenever you need it.
Again, congratulations! And I wish you all the best!
Take care!
Kim
Hi Teresa,
I was off work for 4 weeks. I almost went back at the start of the 3rd week, but my energy was so low, and I was having a hard time sitting straight up in a computer chair for long periods of time. However, when I went back the following week, I was good to go. However, my job is not physically demanding at all...not sure how long you will be off.
Also, you will have to remember to stay on your eating schedule while at work. I believe I had just started the soft foods and was still on soups as well at that time. However, I am down 93 pounds in 6 months and I too....like everyone else it seems, would do it again in a heart beat. It is worth what you will initially sacrifice. You will reap so much more down the road! Take care and the BEST of luck to you!!! -Jennifer
