Different docs have different requirements for different phases. But sugars should be avoided as much as possible. Greek yogurt has less sugar, more protein and you can get plain and flavor it with crystal light.
I am not sure what to tell you here as i do not know what your docs phase 2 is.
I have a yogurt a day, but didn't until I was about 4 months out from surgery. Before that a yogurt was split into like 3 or 4 sittings.
Try to keep net carbs below 5 to 8 in anything you eat for quite a while.(each individual item). This is what my nut recommended and I followed that idea.

Lost 114 lbs. working on getting rid of a recent 10 lb regain...and WILL succeed!
Janelle, not sure what your MD considers phase 2 food. I prefer the plain greek yogurt flavored with crystal light powder, sugar free pudding powder, a bit of sugar free jam/jelly or sugar free flavored syrups (think sugar free coffee syrups). Most of the commercial yogurts have high levels of carbohydrates. Read the labels carefully.
If you can have cooked cereal, consider adding extra powdered milk to the water before preparing to increase the protein content. Refried beans have good protein and some fiber. Avoid juices and carbohydrates as possible. Focus on proteins. Carnation instant breakfast(again sugar free) provides protein between the breakfast and the milk used to prepare it.
I use lots of sugar free popsicles for times when I need to "chew" and not have calories.

As you can tell, all doctors are different. My nutritionist called me the other day to let me know the outcome of my lab results and I asked about no sugar added juice. I can no longer drink plain water as it makes me sick to my stomach (pouch) they are okay with juice because if you get the no sugar added you don't dump on natural sugars. They do however recommend that you water down the juice to cut calories.
I can't help you much with the yogurt; I hate it!
Your best bet is to call your surgeon's office and talk to them about it. Good luck.
