"To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream; not only plan, but also believe."
– Anatole France

About Anatole France

Anatole France was the pen name of Nobel Prize–winning French author Jacques Anatole François Thibault. He was born in 1844 in Paris. His father was a book dealer, and France spent his life among books, including 14 years as assistant librarian to the French Senate. His novels, including the Contemporary History series and The Gods Are Athirst, often use allegory and religious symbolism as vehicles for moral questions. He died in 1924.

Does this quote mean anything to you?  Do you have any great things that you want to accomplish?   I do.  I want to be as healthy as possible.  This means I need to act, do the exercise, follow the healthy eating plan set out by my surgical team.  I work on this goal one day at a time, one hour at a time, one meal at a time.  I feel good about my attempts for today.  Two healthy meals and a protein supplement so far today.  Sixty minutes walking the dogs in the cool late summer weather.  Cloudy, perfect breeze for a long walk.  Waved at a few folks that I recognized as we strolled along the streets in town.  Even the public transportation drivers are starting to wave.  They see is walking in many different areas of the town.

I planned my meals, activity and even got in some weight lifting today.  Now headed back to bed for my beauty sleep before working tonight.  I believe that I will get to my healthy weight.  I know that not everyone is meant to be model thin.  Just setting a goal of the highest level of health possible for me.

Take time to day to act, dream, plan and believe.  Hugs

EXCELLENT post Kathy! And you know.. these are some of the hardest things for us to do. Many of us come from a lifetime of self doubt and negative self talk...me included!

I have been doing much planning and dreaming of my own. The problem was i wasn't following up by acting on it and believing in myself enough to act on it. I am not referring to my weight loss surgery here either. Here i am referring to my dream of holding a wls retreat. The one I am thrilled to hear you are planning to attend!

I pushed aside my self doubt and fears and took solid action in this dream and goal. I have indeed rented and reserved the beautiful retreat home for this retreat (june 2011) and am working hard now to put everything in place and planning all of the aspects of it. And when I took the step to commit myself to this, it felt like I freed myself from the binds that held me in limbo. I feel good...no GREAT about this and I know it is going to be a HUGE success! I am getting wonderful feedback and response to this, and tentatively have 4 participants so far. Now just have to get the registration page posted. WOOOOOO HOOOOOO!!!

Sometimes the hardest part is taking that first scary step outside of our comfort zone, to give us the self belief we need to take the action we must to accomplish whatever it is we dream of. I am so over allowing my hopes and dreams to pass my by. I am deserving of fulfilling them. I am capable of doing them well and I am going for it!

It is my hope and wish for everyone else to try...just try to do the things you dream of.. the first step is the hardest... after that it gets so much easier!
