Chain of destiny

"It is a mistake to try to look too far ahead.
The chain of destiny can only be grasped one link at a time
."
Winston Churchill

How about you, are you looking too far ahead?  I know I do.  What will I do when I get to goal?, how will I look?, where will I be?  Seems that I have been looking so far ahead, that I have been ignoring the today.  What will I be doing today to get to the goal?  What will I eat now?  Will it be a healthy choice?  What activity can I do now?  The rest of the day?

I wake up in the morning with ambitions, meal planning, activity, then I get dressed and actually start the day and whffffffttttttttttttt.  Plans all shot to bits.  I spend some time in front of the tube, get distracted by one thing after another and the time flies by.  Does this sound like anyone you know?  Be honest now!

Yesterday, I waited till my hubby got home from work, thinking we could take a nice dog walk together.  (It was raining when I planned to go earlier in the day)  He declined, football on the tube.  Did I let that keep me home.   Nope.  I hooked up the leashes, the dogs were more than ready to join me, took them for a 2.5 mile walk.  Got it accomplished in only 45 minutes, yes, I walked quickly.  Even found a hill to walk up.  I was breathing heavy by the time we got to the top.  Not the dogs, they were ready for more.  When we got home, left the dogs to watch football with Dennis and I headed to the gym for some weightlifting.  I challenged myself to increase the pounds on each machine.  It felt good to be able to lift more, challenged.  My muscles were grateful.  To round out the be good to Kathy day, I went to the local Y to water walk and sit in the hot tub.  30 minutes of constant motion walking and then jogging in the deeper end and the time in the hot tub stretching and massaging my muscles.

Then after all the activity, I spend time preparing supper, again healthy.  I put a steak and veggies in the oven to cook, prepared a potato for my hubby, then sat here at the computer for some solitaire and answering emails.  Looking back, I never did turn the tv on yesterday.  Spent the last part of the evening reading a book on mindful eating.  Grand day.

Today, I started journalling my food (again).  So far, so good.  I am satisfied, not stuffed.  Writing my note here on OH, then to the basement to do smething on the Wii, I haven't had it on for months.  I will get back to everyone later about my progress for the rest of the day.

What are you doing for yourself today?  Are you grasping the next link in the chain of destiny?  Have a grand day, do something to grasp the next link.  Hugs

Wonderful and inspiring post my dear friend! Thank you so much for sharing it!
Planned a nice long walk for this evening, but alas we are being "stormed out" so opted to make several dashes up and down the stairway in my home instead. I am sure I didn't get in nearly the distance I would have on a walk, but definately had the intensity to it. Could only do so much as I am still recovering from surgery. But its all a "step" (haha) in the right direction.

I'm grasping that link!
Hugs back at ya!

Hey there. Just to set thr ecord straight for you, we do not all have our hair short due to having ost it.. so don't be too afraid. I just had mine short to keep it quick and easy to do and get out the door. i am actually growing it our a bit again. Kathy has always kept hers short.

I lost very very LITTLE hair. My secret to this: Getting in all required protein, and even started getting in extra before surgery to make sure it was healthy as possible  before surgery. I also took biotin, a vitamin in the vitamin B family (maybe a combo of B vitamins). Hair is mad eof protein. when our body lacks adequate protein, it feels our hair is the least important protein need for it to focus on. So that is what causes much hair thinning. Some people exeprience some thinning as an after effect of anesthesia.

Post op hair loss usually will begin about 3 months out and go on until about 6 to 8 months out. The better you are at getting in protein, the better your hair will fair. Also AVOID any kind of processing a few months before surgery, and if you can, wait a year after, just to reduce hair damage, which will also contribute to thinning or loss.

Best of luck in keeping a nice full head of hair.!
