Just a thought or two
Good morning everyone. It is 3 am here, my night off from work and of course I am up. Just as well to stay on the usual sleep schedule. I am feeling stuck in the moment, needing a little incentive to pick myself up "by my bootstraps" so to speak and get myself back on track. I was looking up something positive to tell myself during the day today and decided to share with all of you.
Quote of the Day
"The thing always happens that you really believe in; and the belief in a thing makes it happen."
by Frank Lloyd Wright
A little history on Mr. Wright for those who don't know him:
The influential American architect Frank Lloyd Wright, father of the Prairie Style, is most famous for designing the Guggenheim Museum. He was born in Wisconsin in 1867. His buildings have strong geometric lines and often mimic their environment. He believed that form and function should be one, and that the way people live in a space shapes the space itself. His personal life was tumultuous; he married three times and lost his beloved mistress to a fire at his home. He died in 1959.
This description could fit so many of our lives. Things were not perfect. He strived to have his style. (Take a moment to look up pics of his designs sometime.) We tend to mimic our environment too.
We surround ourselves by things that do not inspire us. Look at the choices that we make several times a day. What to eat, the first thing that we can quickly put our hand on, the not so healthy fast foods, high sodium, high fat, loaded with carbohydrates, or something that is wonderful fuel for our changing bodies. Will we journal our thoughts and feelings instead of trying to eat them away.
Who do we surround ourselves with, listen to for inspiration: those people who bring us down, those that start that little voice inside us reciting those same mental tapes of defeat or someone who will tell us the honest truth, even when it may sting a little to hear it.
Presented with a brand new day, potential for ???????? Will we choose to spend it on the sofa, nibbling, hiding from life or will we put on our sneakers and take a stroll, sign up for a new class, get into new healthy habits? Will we miss those little cues that we need to take a moment (or much longer) to care for our mind, body and soul?
Back to the quote from Frank Lloyd Wright... "The thing always happens that you really believe in; and the belief in a thing makes it happen."
Thanks for listening. Have a day of belief and make that belief happen. Hugs
