Bonjour, I'm new here....

Bonjour !

My name is Jeannie and I'm from the Washington, DC area (in Maryland).  Actually, I'm from PA - northeast (south of Scranton).

I am a wife (13 years) and mother (two daughters, 5, 10 and one son, 6).  I love my family!

I am here because I am having the vertical sleeve surgery on Monay - August 16th, 2010.  I am looking forward to this day (also because I hear that I won't feel hungry while on the liquid diet for another three weeks - after these two last weeks -it has been awful).

I need to lose about 124lbs more to be officially at my target weight.   So, I am ready to take this journey.  I have already lost 31 pounds.

I am so thankful to this website and to all of you.  You are the nicest, most understanding and motivating people I have met on-line or in person, for that matter.

I feel like this group, this website is my new home.

I am a teacher (high school) and go back to work one week after surgery.... wish me luck (it's a week for teachers only - I think I can do it).

Well, you can now see (if you're still reading) that I am talkative... sorry.... that is just me.

Thank you, sincerely for reading this.  I appreciate you and you are my motivation.

Sincerely,
jeannie, plain and simple

Jeannie... A big warm welcome and hugs to you! We ARE absolutely here for you whenever you need us. There are days we get hardly any posts, and others it gets more active, but know this is just people busy with life.

Congrats to you on your rapidly approaching surgery date! Bring some chapstick with you! lol.

You are doing great with losing weight. And after your VSG you will be stunned at the progress. Know there will be times of stalls in weight loss, and do not panic if / when this happens. It is a normal part of the process. Just follow the plan set out by you surgeon ./ nutritionist and get in the activity and exercise, liquids, protein and supplements. Start taking little walks several times a day right after surgery to prevent clots and to help start healthy new habits to take root.

I am so thrilled that you feel at home here in our group. it really is a great group of people and a wonderful place to reach out for support.

Welcome to the family Jeannie, I do not turn folks away and love to meet talkers.  So chatter away.  I believe that there is a place for everyone to fit into, glad that we are your fit.

It will be great to have a week at work before the students arrive to get back into the swing of things.  Do take it a bit easy during the first couple of weeks back.  I found that I was tired pretty easy for a couple of weeks after surgery.  I agree with Patrece, pack a lip balm to take to the hospital.

I work night shift and pop up here on OH at different hours of the day.  I feel like I am missing out when I do not have time to come here and see what my bariatric buddy's are doing.  Let's end summer with a bang of posts.  Hugs
