Honeymoon period? and a little update and advice

So, I know we've talked about this before, but I forgot the answer.  How long is the "honeymoon" for bypass patients?

By the way, I hope everyone is doing well.  Short update on me, I have been really focusing on working out regularly so I haven't been online for a long while.  Seems as if all I do is work, workout, and come home late to go to bed.  Very boring but I love it. I just want to make sure I take advantage of this "honeymoon"

So all you newbies as soon as you are feeling the energy I strongly advise you to exercise regularly as soon as you can. It doesn't have to be at a gym or with organized classes just move your body. YOU will be amazed at what you can do and how you can progress from the first day you start. Don't let yourself get discouraged if you can't do what other people do, just focus on what you can do, what other people can do doesn't matter it's all about you.  Just be safe and do what is comfortable for you and eventually you will see the difference in your body and your well being.  Sorry, don't know what came over me.  I just think of how six months ago I struggled with walking for a long periods of time, and now I'm in a much better place.

Hi Lulu, congrats on the wonderful loss. Time for a new avatar pic. Don't stay away so long. Love getting updates from folks a few months out from surgery.

I second the idea of getting in the exercise. It makes me feel better when I have regular exercise. Hugs

LuLu,
Congrats on your success. I just had my surgery July 1st so I guess I'm in the 'honeymoon' period, curious to know too, when that ends.

I've heard the "honeymoon" is about 6 months.. I am at 4 1/2 and my weight loss has slowed a bit.. but I am still doing everything I need to because I have still a year to go! (per Dr. weight loss is about 18 months after surgery with the majority within the 1st 6 months.)

Thanks everyone, my six months is coming soon.   Getting a little nervous.  Kathy, I would put up a new avatar but the thing always tells me my pic is to big, and I don't know how to fix that.  I'm a little challenged. LOL

Yep... biggest amount of loss in the first 6 months.. Loss can continue up to 18 to 24 months, just depends on each individual. I know my loss slowed to a crawl after 8 months.. but today i am at a normnal BMI and loving it! The more you stay on plan the better and longer you will continue to lose.

You are absolutely right about the exercise.. thanks for sharing that with everyone!
