Ok I am 6 months post-op and down 120 lbs so I understand if your first reaction to this question is "WHY THE HELL ARE YOU ASKING THIS NOW"  LOL!!  Anyway, when the post op diet, for the normal diet phase, states that you be able to eat around 3-4 oz of food at a meal, is the 3-4 oz liquid or weight measurement?  Please forgive me if this is a dumb question.  ie. I should be able to eat a 3 oz piece of baked chicken(cooked weight) or 1.5 oz of green beans and 1.5 oz of a healthy meat.   I have just been curious but afraid to ask.  Evidently I have been doing the right thing but I can slowly consume 12-14 oz of a protein shake slowly of course.  Am I making sense?   Thank yall

I have been listening to Patrece.  General guidelines 2 oz volume during first 3 months, by 6 months out taking 4 oz or 1/2 cup of food.  by 9 months out up to 6 oz. or 3/4 cup of food.  Never more than 1 cup of food after 1 year out.  Plan to take 2 bites of protein for every 1 bite of veggie, if any room left over at the end of your meal, may have a bite of starchy food/ carbohydrate.  Measuring cup is useful for determining portions.

Sounds like you have been doing well with your plan so far.  Best of luck with getting to goal.  Great to have you come to chat last Monday.  Hope we get more men to come to chat.  Have a grand week.

Thank yall very much for the info. For some reason I was thinking that 3 oz is max forever. That makes me feel alot better about being able to eat ~4oz at this point.

At 4 oz you are right on track!!! Great job! Yes it is volume, not weight. Some foods an be hard to measure by volume (like meats) to you may have to cut them up to get a better idea of how much you are taking in.

You'd starve to death on 3 oz for ever.. you are right where you should be at 6 months out. Wooo hoooo
